What's new

Alec Burks

Jazz should go at least 5-1 over the next 6 with the squad they have healthy.

@ Warriors
v Kings
v Raptors
@ Lakers
v Sixers
v Suns

Let Burks and Hill continue to rest. Then they go on a 4 game road trip starting 01/2/17. Send Hill and Burks with the team and they start playing. Start the push for the 3rd seed(forget the 4th seed)

Jazz end December with a record of 23-11

Burks has been trade bait for the past two or three seasons. He got hurt every time. Not many GMs will give up a well adjusted, skilled player who' s bought into a team concept to trade for a injury prone, overpaid, inexperienced Burks.

I say bring him back let him play 30 minutes a night and let everyone else rest. When he gets hurt again in the second week of February, the rotation can go back to what it was.

Overpaid certainly isn't true.. He's in the 20's on the list of highest paid SG's beneath names like J.R. Smith, Tyler Johnson, Aaron Afflalo, Courtney Lee, Austin Rivers and Monta Ellis..

Burks contract the next 2½ seasons is in fact a ridiculous bargain, Kentatious Caldwell-Pope is going to be looking for double Alec's salary this summer. He can play minutes at PG, SG and SF for a majority of the teams in the league there's not many players who can make that claim.

If he plays he's a bargain.

Look I love AB and windmill dunks are cool but how is his dismount from the uneven bars... word is he still has a little hop in it. Once he sticks the landing I will believe in the return. #balancebeam

Some talk about him here like he's been hurt riding a mo ped, or playing in a pickup games... That Paul Pierce foul wasn't even a basketball play..

If Burks comes back as vintage Burks along with Hill. Mack and Exum will get big minute reductions, Hood could push for some minutes at SF as well which would limit Joe Johnson somewhat. I don't imagine JJ would be too upset with that as we need to keep him crunchy until the playoff run.

The reality of the thing is that we are going to have more injuries, we just need to avoid having 4 or 5 players injured at one time. We could actually DNP players for rest and not actually throw the game with our depth.

I will hate him forever for it. I don't even think he got a flagarant for it. He didn't help him up or do the courtesy are you okay. We needed earl watson that day to step in.

I think I'd like to see some guys rest on back to backs and stay fresh. JJ, Exum, AB, Diaw, all are candidates for this. Maybe even Hood here and there. I want to see quadruple wing with Hill, Hood, Burks, and Hayward.

It was tweeted that after his workout tonight he dunked the ball while passing it between his legs mid air.

I expect him back shortly lol.

I heard Burks has been candidate for all star dunk contest but he's never healthy enough. I bet he wins it when he goes.

Gobert

I love it

As I've said months ago: Burks is clearly the odd man out. Nevertheless, I don't think the Jazz management will trade him right away. They'll probably give Burks some burn no only to increase his value, but also not to risk that the fanbase ends up thinking that one of the players was dumped just for being injured, without being given any chance to prove himself. By not trading him right away, they will also appear "fair" to the other players on the roster - which is a big bonus.

Regarding Burks' minutes, I think they will oscilate between 8 and 20, depending on the match-ups and on how he plays during his first minutes. I think about 75% of his floor time will be spent at the 2, backing up Hood, and the rest eating up a few minutes from Mack and Exum.

According to basketball reference, Ingles currently plays 26% of the time at the two - which amounts to around 4 and a half minutes per game. Those minutes will probably go to Burks. If Ingles remains hot, he'll probably eat up a couple of more minutes at the 3 spot, from 10 minutes per night to about 12. No big deal. Hayward might lose a couple of minutes (especially after Hill returns), which will help him to remain fresh for the playoffs, and Johnson playing time might decrease from 24 to around 18.

The challenge for Snyder will be to keep everyone happy with the reduced minutes. I think he can do it if the team keeps winning...

We need to keep Ingles rolling... I've given Mack a lot of garbage but he's important too... just has some flaws that will drive us crazy. It will be tough to get Burks rolling while not disrupting momentum and chemistry. Need to see what we have there, but I do think he is offseason trade bait unless we can't re-sign Hill.

You and Numby are idiots. No, she wasn't a hot dog vendor. She also told me Favors would be back Dec. 10, which was just about right.

What's so funny about saying something that a person who works for the Jazz said, especially when it might be true because they may happen to know someone who does know? Even if she was a hot dog vendor. We shall see, won't we? No one knows when Burks will be back because the Jazz won't tell us, so a hot dog vendor who works for the Jazz may be the best source we can get.

I don't think the Jazz would consider trading Favors or Burks at the deadline. Not enough of a return on investment with the injuries. Now, I could see them looking at it this offseason after they deal with Hayward. . . but I think you get them healthy and see how they finish the season before you can even really consider trading them.

Jazz are 18-10, the 5th seed and pushing hard on the heels of HOU and LAC. They are top 3 on D and top 10 in O. They have done so despite being massively injured. The team has yet to play 1 game full healthy and our projected starters have only played 12 minutes together all season. 12.

Jazz will not trade a single player and will stand pat (baring someone willing to let the Jazz rob them blind). They are gonna ride this horse as far as it will go and tweak it in the off season. If they get far enough than Hill and Hayward will come back.
