Can someone explain to me why there's an eye as a symbol for the Jazz store?

How'd that come to pass? Whats the connection? I think it's ugly, slightly unsettling and should be changed. It's like the CBS symbol without the outer layer..

Personally I think a NBA jersey icon or a shopping bag icon would probably be better though.
