The Jazz aren't trading Burks, he's our insurance against Hayward leaving. If Hayward leaves, they'll slide Hood down to the 3 and start Burks next season.
Agree. Besides, Burks has very low trade value right now. And only a few weeks to build some back. I'm not sure there's a deal out there for Utah to make.

I wouldn't mind a small trade towards the deadline. TBH, as long as they don't trade Gobert, Hayward, Hood, Hill or Lyles . . . I'm good with just about anything. Favors, Burks and Exum would need a better return for me to move on, and I'd prefer to keep Jingles and Mack as well. If they have to use Diaw or Johnson as salary filler to get an upgrade somewhere, then I'd be okay with that (although I'd prefer to keep both of them through this year unless it's a clear improvement and upgrade that can be acquired.)

This team is clicking and I hope they keep that going into the playoffs.

The one area that I might look to upgrade would be a defensive stopper at wing. They can move either Withey or Neto as a small asset and then appropriate pick(S) to match value. Top two that have been bandied about in the media are Tony Allen (vet who would add to the strong defensive culture) and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson (great defender with a broken shot.) I think that moving Withey and a pick (or two) for one of these two guys would be the best move.

No... no swaggy he's a moron. Burks for Lou straight up or no deal.

I wouldn't even consider that. If you could get LW for free-ish (Neto + 2nd rounders or something) because Lakers want to dump him, then he's a great guy to have in your bench arsenal, but I wouldn't give up real assets for him. I'm not at all interested in Nick Young.

Lou Williams would be a great pickup. We could use more offense and more shooting. I don't know why LA would give him up for the scraps people think we can get him for. But then again he is on their bench. I can't figure that one out. Why the hell does that dumb *** Walton play Swaggy over him.

Last three years, the Jazz have added Booker, Jingles, Withey, Mack, Johnson, Hill and Diaw. Hill is the only high profile pickup, but those others have all been extremely solid acquisitions.

Last year, the Jazz helped their team tremendously by making the small, but very solid trade at the deadline for Mack so they could move on from Burke. I think that the Jazz are happy with their young core. If they make a move, I'd expect it to be small, but solid.

The addition of Lou Williams probably isnt going to swing a playoff series, so I agree. He plays no defense and he is very streaky (awful so far in January).

If I'm trading for anyone, it's for some defense in the 2nd unit at a guard or wing position.

Weird that he hasn't been as good as soon as the Lakers got their players back healthy and he got buried on the bench again. Kinda hard to be good when you dont play much.

I wouldnt be too concerned about his defense. We dont need everyone to be a great defender. Gobert holds down the fort quite well.

I'm going to remind you of this nonsense when the Millers are paying the LT.

Okay... ignore history and believe that day will come. How the hell is it nonsense have you paid attention the last few years. We have been at or near the floor for almost three straight years and sold picks for money every goddam year... but yeah the millers are free spenders and calling them cheap is nonsense.

I think there is a tiny chance a deal centered around Favors for McCollum happens.

I don't understand why people think CJ will get moved he is nearly impossible to match salaries with because of his extension. They'd wait until at least the draft to move him because the deals the could make would be restricted to a handful of teams that have cap space... picking up CJ would also mean Hill leaves imo.

Using that cap space would be stupid if it effects the salary position next year. We need to sign Hill and Hayward, filling a little bit of space this year and jeopardizing that would be insane.

We can still retain those guys... letting another cap asset just expire without improving the short or long term position of the team would be more insane.

He's almost a perfect fit for our bench... has slowed a bit but he murders bench units. He'd also be a mini insurance policy if Hill left. Could still bring him off the bench but he could carry some extra minutes when Exum struggles.

The gamble lies in whether you think Burks will turn it on for the second half of the season and becomes the 6th man we need him to be. Ingles is great and all, but he's not a player that contention should hinge on. We need Burks to have the offensive impact Lou Williams would provide. If you think he can, you stay put and hope he takes off. Bake that ****in cake, bruh. But keep in mind you're gambling on contention, IMO. The Jazz are a "Burks and Exum figuring it out" or Lou Williams from contending.

If the FO believed this, then they'd part with a first-round pick, bring Lou over, and let everything else sort itself out.

****, that would probably do it, huh? We have the cap space to absorb him. Not sure if that would be enough for LA.

Yeah, who cares he can't defend a chair.

And who cares he has been awful in every playoff series he has ever been in. Let's send off assets for that guy. Yeah.

One of the worst defenders in basketball...

Why do we want him? We need to add perimeter defense and athletic ability, not a guy like Lou Williams.
Burks will get back to form to provide an offensive spark off the bench (and Lyles can as well.) Give me a perimeter defender/hustle player.

Tony Allen
