Jazz should trade for Brook Lopez

Looks like he could get moved. I don't know how you get it done but I think he's a perfect fit alongside Rudy.

I concur. I think It'd work way better than people expect.

Most everyone here would quickly become Brook Lopez fans I'm certain, he's really, really humble and I'm sure would be thankful to be in the playoff hunt for the first time in a long time.. There's no way there'd be any sort of personality clash, I'm sure he'd just do his best to fit in and help the team win.

He played next to Robin growing up too.. It's not as far-fetched as some might think.

All for it. Twin towers. Brook deserves to be on a solid team like Utah. I think he'd help Rudy with some moves too.

Great. Just when I thought our rebounding was bad.

He is making way too much money for the Jazz to consider trading for him. Their biggest trade concern is taking back too much salary.

Not true, it really just affects Diaw's option next season, if they aren't concerned about the lux tax and really want to "Win-Now"

Favors-Mack-Withey (+Picks) for Lopez works..

Moves Utah from the 27th cheapest roster all the way up to 23rd this season..

Hayward for 27MM and Hill for 19 puts them near 119MM next season with a few minimum spots to be filled and Lopez can always be moved at the deadline, he and Joe expire after next season so thats 31MM back just in time to hand it to Dante and Hood..

I'm just going by what has been reported. I've read that the Jazz are very weary of adding major salary in any trade.

I thought the Nets wanted a couple of decent 1st round draft pick for him? Pretty sure we'd be out of the running because of that.

They won't be tax payers for more than 2 years, as the repeat offender penalties would be too steep, so they are very unlikely to pay the LT before they have to. I'm guessing after next year they'll go all in, but not before then.

As long as it fits in the constructs of whats possible, I say RUN IT UP!!!!!!!!!!!! Our definitions of "going for it" probably differ.

I believe in either being aggressive(hunting) or being in asset acquisition mode(gathering) at full force.. not tip-toeing in-between.

This is bringing another big scoring option in to help appease Hayward, lets not pretend its any thing less... This is "going for it" much more than bringing in off-season vets as roleplayers...

This is an upgrade at the Jazz least productive position. When truly going for it I say it's wise to give the squeaky wheel some grease. the task of winning the west is a monumental one.

If it really worked, best-case scenario, Brook is the #1 scoring option at like 25ppg and Hayward falls in line as the deadly #2 which is what some posters here have been hoping happens for years.. They have a great list of possible number of #3 options such as Hill, Hood and Burks.. Iso Joe or even Ingles on a hot night.. Rudy's always the safety valve or "checkdown" in football terms..

This post will draw ire here, Brook's game will get unfairly criticized in the process -- I can't find highlights but remember the game right when Rudy was starting to ascend the C ranks and Brook dropped like 20 in the first half and several dunks on him...

Brook Lopez talent level is on par with Yao Ming, who's a HOF'er. This is forgotten because hes been on the Nets surrounded by journeymen and undrafted free agents and vastly overpaid vets for his entire career..

Defense is the problem with Brook. Brook can't switch on screens and he can't guard most PFs. On offense he would be great. But our identity is pretty defense oriented. I guess you could stagger Rudy and Lopez but 20 million is a lot for a back up center. It would be an interesting matchup but I doubt the Jazz are interested. There are other options that fit better and are cheaper in contact and what it would take in trade. Honestly I think I would rather see them go after boogie since it might cost the same to get them and he has more upside.

The defense would EASILY still be one of the best in the league... Bolomboy is a good contrast too, they can make it work and cover a ton of matchup scenarios. There's so much utility in the Jazz current roster that there's actually too much to showcase it all. Players like Iso Joe, and Hayward can flex to PF vs Certain matchups such as Draygoon.

Even if they surrender a bunch of picks there's bigs in this draft that can help too. Cameron Oliver comes to mind and he might be on the board in the 2nd.

Please explain how. We would get better at defense with Brook? He is a worse defender than Diaw especially on switches and guarding quicker stretch 4s.

Full disclosure - I'm the biggest Brook Lopez fan on this board.

The Knicks taking Gallinari instead of Brook Lopez did immense, fantastic damage to the quality of their rosters since.. I had the same feeling about that pick, which seemed likely as when the Jazz traded up for Trey Burke and took him over Schroder..

Not arguing better, I'm arguing the defense wouldn't fall far, and im arguing that fall is negligible in comparison to the offensive upgrade...

Brook wouldn't have to expend as much energy to play efficiently with the Jazz because they have a good team already with good ball-movement, and I think he could make it work defensively.

There's many options for what to do vs certain matchups. Vs some letting Rudy guard the 4 might be viable for a lil bit.

The Jazz can still 'throw the kitchen sink' at almost any 4 (sans Anthony Davis) with Brook and Rudy starting.

Imagine Lopez and Gobert starting together against GSW. We would get crushed.

Nah. You aren't thinking about this right.

We start a new trend. A new way of playing basketball. We put Brook or Rudy up against the 3 point line guarding the 3 point shooter. The Dubs don't want to shoot twos. So you make it really hard to shoot a 3 and let them drive past the big guy guarding the 3 only to meet a big guy guarding the rim. So 1 big man up top. That stays all around the 3 point line. Two other guys guarding the rest of the 3 point line on the sides. 1 in the middle, and 1 guy to roam. We make them beat us with mid range if they can. On offense Brook can shoot 3's. There is your spacing. Problem solved.

I just revolutionized the NBA.

You are welcome.

Dont laugh. They laughed at small ball and stretch big too. Don't be that guy who is years behind the revolution.

Draymond Green can't guard Brook Lopez either tho and the Jazz have many options to flex to.

If Utah had Harrison Barnes it'd be a more seamless fit tho for sure. Or dare I say... Al Farouq Aminu (Tobias Harris too)..

Its worth mentioning GSW's flexibility/depth should go down after this season once Steph gets paid market-value..
