Jazz should trade for Brook Lopez

Defense is the problem with Brook. Brook can't switch on screens and he can't guard most PFs. On offense he would be great. But our identity is pretty defense oriented. I guess you could stagger Rudy and Lopez but 20 million is a lot for a back up center. It would be an interesting matchup but I doubt the Jazz are interested. There are other options that fit better and are cheaper in contact and what it would take in trade. Honestly I think I would rather see them go after boogie since it might cost the same to get them and he has more upside.

How many Nets games have you watched? My guess is zero.

Would you guys do something like Lyles/Diaw/GSW Pick/OKC pick for Lopez? It works salary wise sense we are under the cap, and from everything I'm reading all the Nets want back is some young talent/draft picks for him.

Diaw's gotta stay so they can decline his option for next season to make sure there's space for Hayward and Hill..

Unless you're talking about the most expensive team in the league or top-2..

So Joe Johnson would work if you swapped them but thats pretty much the most hilarious trade destination for Iso Joe in the league..

I imagine Withey would go back to the Nets in almost any scenario too..

Talent, cost and fit issues aside. . .

Joe Johnson (paraphrasing) "I like Utah because there's no knuckleheads here."

JazzFanz "Lets trade for Deron Williams and Brook Lopez. We could be the West Nets. . . "

Cracks me up. Forget Love, Jazz should chase Melo too.

Is Lopez known for being a knucklehead? I haven't followed him that closely. As a twin from Stanford, I just assume he's a Collins.

This thread is out of control. Then there's PGAB. He would have the jazz signing Barns to a max deal and then trade scraps for Lopez. I should hire PG as my financial guru and teach me about how not to worry about money.

See ya Hayward, and take a hike Hill, because Barns and Lopez will surely put us ahead of the GSW because they will help this team contend for a chip a million times better then Hayward and hill.

Get Lopez but don't stop there... let's get okafor... vucevic and any other big we can... run 5 centers... guis you gotta zig when people zag. Prolly win 5 championships doe!

No need to get emotional about it. I'm just saying whats the harm in experimenting, there's clearly a weak position and time is running out to find true quality they can use in the playoffs..

Favors in his hobbled state is not in a position to help this team as much as Brook would.... thats the crux of it..

It's not like his trade value will plummet in the 80-something regular season games before next years trade deadline.

I'm not for hire. Research "passive income" find an avenue and build it yourself, once your passive income exceeds your cost of living you're now "financially free". You'll thank me later.

If you don't have a particular skill that can help generate passive income I'd suggest learning one or looking into real-estate and aspiring to be a slumlord.

About two years ago he was a top-3 offensive big in the league. Since then he got injured a lot, played for a messy bottom-feeder for meaningless games. In the meantime he developed an average 3P shot.

If he's healthy and determined, he might still shine in the right environment. Dude studied at Stanford, I think he and Coach Q might get along well, another high IQ guy.
At first look, is a good fit alongside Gobert.

Not checked his contact or anything but I'd trade UTA's 2017 or 2018's 1st for him.

No one is questioning the skill of Lopez, but it's just a terrible fit especially if you want any chance of beating Rockets/Warriors.

It's feasible. Check out these trades where they burn future draft assets to add talent, flexibilty and stability.. They can extend Hill and push the salary really high(Cavs territory) for next season.

-Hayward + Ingles + 2nd rd pick for Paul George and CJ Miles
-Diaw + Iso Joe + Jazz 2017 1st rd pick +2nd rd for Harrison Barnes
-Favors + GSW 1st rd pick + 2nd rd pick for Brook Lopez
-Shelvin Mack + OKC 1st rd pick for Lou Williams (This trade according to the NBA trade machine means +10 wins for Utah and -13 wins for the Lakers)

@ESPNSteinLine
Mark Cuban tells ESPN that Dallas is willing to take on contracts in advance of Thursday's trade deadline if draft compensation is attached.

PG - Hill - Williams - Exum - Burks/Neto
SG - Hood - Burks - Miles/Exum/George
SF - George - Barnes/Miles - Hood/Burks
PF - Barnes - Lopez/George - Lyles - 2nd rd pick (Cameron Oliver)
C - Gobert - Lopez - Bolomboy

Then you have a bunch of big expirings after next season - Lopez, George can opt out, Miles, Williams, Hood and Exum are restricted... Meaning they have a lot of major chips to sell at the deadline next year if they so choose..

Geez, GSW have 4 all-stars + finals-MVP coming off the bench, what chance are you talking about?
As for the Rockets, we beat them already in a 7 game series even with a one-legged Favors.

I browsed this thread quickly and I was surprised to see ANYBODY say that Lopez and Gobert would work well together. ****ING LAUGHABLE. Horrendous fit. Yall think that Lopez can guard the 4 worth ****? We'd see 1-4 PnRs all day long. Goodbye elite defense.

SG - Hood - Burks -CJ Miles/Exum/George

Add in Allonzo Trier as a 2nd rd pick backup SG thats 15. To me this is a squad that can win 50+ next year.. possibly better than this years team..

Who's gonna have a better bench than that... are you kidding me..

That roster is 2 things very clearly;

1) one of the best 3pt shooting teams
2) one of the best defensive teams

The Nets aren’t actively shopping Lopez the way the Knicks have Carmelo Anthony. The asking price was two first-round draft picks, but as soon as Cousins entered the market, that became less likely. 4 hours ago – via New York Post

@ESPNSteinLine
The price on Brook Lopez has dropped, league sources say. Instead of two first-rounders, word is Brooklyn would accept a first and a second.

Looks like he could get moved. I don't know how you get it done but I think he's a perfect fit alongside Rudy.

Um... NOPE. They are both slow. I would play small ball on that team ALL DAY LONG! If you want to sit one or the other all game, then it works but Lopez would be a mighty expensive sub.
