What's new

Lyles

Based, then, on his rookie season and the continual disappointment of his Sophomore season? emmk.

That's ****ing ********. We have 8 out of 10 things needed to get passed the 1st round and put up a serious challenge in the 2nd. One of those 8 things is likely to be HOME COURT ADVANTAGE, for christ's sake. The missing ingredients are depth (again, at obvious spots) and experience. You can get depth and experience at the same time via the right acquisitions.

Blah blah blah

What other team assets do you think should be mismanaged?
The Jazz are deeper than at least 75% of playoff teams.

LOL
nothing has been mismanaged. The rebuild is right on schedule. We have all the pieces and assets to be a great team going forward.

You say we need a 1 and 4. What are legitimate options that make a difference? Without giving up any of Hill, Hayward, Favors, Gobert, Hood, Johnson, Ingles, and whichever piece you think is #8 of the pieces we already have. I would say Exum, and Lyles should not be traded for trash either.

But go ahead keep bitching it's negative Nancies like you that make this board hilarious to me this time of year. I'm sure you bitch about it every trade deadline.

Bottom line, I didn't want or expect changes at the deadline.

didn't even make it past the first line because the tard-level was too great.

The jazz had an asset. That asset was cap space. That asset just expired without being used.

If you don't think there were deals out there that could have improved the team (either as insurance options or as rotational pieces [even pieces on expiring deals]) then you flat-out were not paying attention.

Bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch. It's all whinny little bitches like you seem to know how to do.

That asset was worthless if it doesn't improve the team. Again nothing suggested accomplished that purpose. So go ahead keep on bitching about nothing. Bitch.

So depth isn't one of our issues at all. Most teams go 9 deep at max in the playoffs and we have that covered.

We had an opportunity to get better and deeper (and reach the ****ing salary floor)... and we passed.

The back-up 1 and 4 sucked today. You need depth at those positions.

but all I do is bitch, right? Wrong. I'm just not a puss and will call a fail when I see one.

Our backup 4 is Joe Johnson. He did fine.

Dante is our backup 1. He needs minutes. Anyone we add to improve depth also hurts Dante. Our depth improves by him getting minutes and improving, as he has done. So he had 1 bad game. Our depth is a strength, not a negative. To say otherwise is laughable and you won't find many people who agree with you outside of a small group on JFC who clamor for any kind of move to be made.

How? Still haven't seen a legitimate option. Dante was good in the first half. Struggled when the other team was pressing to try and get back in the game, as you should expect from inexperienced players.

Joe Johnson was fine as our backup PF, And Favors the other guy you were bitching about was great. Remember you said our PF's sucked not just our backup.

There was no opportunity to get better and deeper, they passed for a reason.

And yes all you seem to do is bitch about nothing.

absolutely slandering my point with idiocy. We're done here.

I don't understand the anti-acquisition side. We were under the salary floor, and there were many cheap players who could have helped. Why should anything else matter? Even if they turn out to be a complete waste, it wouldn't be much of a loss.

Good post and while I agree with you (and naos and Handlogten's heroes) in a general sense, there is a chance that acquiring a new player could make the team worse.

Why mess with team chemistry for someone who won't move the needle?

Deron definitely would change dynamic and chemistry. So also, likely, would Jones. Bogut wouldn't. And I'd argue he moves the needle. Good passer. Good defender. Add some nastiness (weakness) and rebounding (weakness). He won't take shots from anyone. He won't take rebounds from anyone (except the ones that are currently going to the other team). His value would come from being on the floor. Nothing would have to be disrupted in the flow for him to bring rebounding, passing, defense, experience and nastiness.

I would have been OK with the Jazz bringing in DWill and/or Bogut.

But surprise, surprise I do not think there was a bad choice here for the Jazz. They are in win/win territory on this choice.

Yes,depth and some experience would be nice, especially at back up PG. But the Jazz are already on pace for 50, are the 4th seed, fighting for HCA and finally healthy. This is a 2nd round team. The Jazz know they are not winning it all this year. But it is an extremely valuable year in getting playoff experience for Hayward, Favs, Gobert and even players like Exum and Lyles.

This off season is when the Jazz must re-sign Hayward and Hill. Then they need to take a long hard look at the roster. Some players we like will need to be moved and new players signed. This offseason, after the playoff run and lessons learned, the Jazz need to take the next step.
