GAME 82: Denver Nuggets at Utah Jazz, 4/13 6:00p MDT

My first game thread of the year will obviously be the last. The stakes are high:

Jazz lose OR Jazz win combined with Phoenix win:

• Sole ownership of the 12th worst record
• 7 ping pong ball combinations in the draft lottery
• Assuming Utah, Phoenix and Houston don't get lucky in the lottery, the #12 pick in the draft

Jazz win combined with Phoenix loss:

• Shared ownership of the 12th/13th worst record
• A coin flip determines whether they get 6 or 7 ping pong ball combinations
• Assuming Utah, Phoenix and Houston don't get lucky in the lottery, coin flip also determines who gets the #12 and #13.

Starting lineups, rotations, score projections? At this point, who cares?

Spurs play at Phoenix. I was hoping Spurs would be resting players, but I don't think so. If they lose and Bulls win, Chicago will have the tie breaker for HC. The NBA needs to change the way they determine tie breakers. Division record should be the last thing they look at.

To hell with the pick. Utah needs to go out on a high note. Go Jazz!

BTW, I'm not saying the Jazz SHOULD lose...just focusing on the only part of the game that has any meaning (and not even much then). 6 or 7 combinations? No big deal. #12 or #13? Could matter if Jazz & Phx both want the same guy, but I still hope they win the game.

Did anyone listening to 1320 after the game last night hear what they were talking about some Denver journalist? They said to boo him if you see him, but I didn't catch why.

Anyway, I would feel pretty good about the Jazz ending the season on a two game win streak, beating Denver, and leaving us, possibly for a very long time, with a good taste in our mouths. Go Jazz! Win the game and then let's put on The Thong Song and tear this place apart.
