Unsettled Science

Touche.

I am going to start using the bathroom I feel I most identify with day to day. Tomorrow is shaping up to be a "ladies" day so far.
Heaven forbid you got into a private stall and then do the unthinkable and wash your hands in front of women.

I have no idea why we have men's and women's restrooms. Just make private stalls like women's restrooms and a public area to wash your hands. You can even put urinals at the end with walls in-between them because our puritanical society thinks seeing some body parts is bad but most are okay.

But think of the children they might see an elbow, ear or penis which will scar them for no real reason except people telling them they are scarred.

Making bathrooms accessible to everyone and more public should solve most problems. Although they are not the dangerous place people make them out to be. You are more likely to be assaulted in a bathroom by a politician than a transgender person. Guess we should ban all politicians from bathrooms, especially the conservative ones.

I proposed this to a friend, who happens to be a flaming liberal, and his response was "I think that'd be hot". It made me question the practicality of such solution.

It would take a slight adjustment but it functions just fine in many places and situations already that it would be just fine. Honestly there is no reason I have heard to separate bathrooms by gender or anything else. I think the only reason we have different ones know is because of urinals. I know a lot of places are already making the hand washing area communal and some places have dropped men/women thing altogether and just do one big area or individual stalls especially in areas with high populations of gay people. There are creeps in the world but our current system is not helping with that at all anyways and frankly if someone wants to stare at my dick while I pee I dont really care or see why I should care.

Confirmation Bias is a new hate term, perhaps.... depends on how you want to take it.

Is is confirmation bias when you have a theory and find out there's actually scientific reason for thinking it might amount to something.

Here's the deal. It's the politics I oppose, not the science. If we have a global warming event going on, whatever it's cause, and we don't actually have an effective response, there's no sense doing a lot of things that won't make any difference.

I could drag in some folks who note that warmer oceans, especially at depth, seem to preceed rises in ambient atmospheric CO2. I know all about the combustion equations producing CO2 and H2O plus the heat we use for various forms of convenient power. I also know about normal decay that is going on in ocean sediments and soils worldwide, which produce more CO2 and more methane, and more chlorinated LMW organic gases than we do. Still, what we do is on top of nature.

The politicization of science is a huge problem, but the advent of a global government with a CO2 tax base/fund for redistribution according to political imperatives is an obscene and totally unjustifiable exploitation of the issue.

My politics says educate the people about the issues, and don't exploit them.

My science gut instinct says we have an ice age in the offing that will change everything we think is important right now. Ice ages are generally preceeded by a temp spike of short duration. I believe it's a signal of a basic climate cycle.... the oceans are moving into a different mode/pattern and warm oceans with warmth at depth enough to outgas a lot of CO2 causes the temp spike, but then the rates of evaporation pick up, and snowfalls at higher altitudes and latitures increase significantly.

But still, the link in the OP would indicate that these events, if relevant, are less significant than the changes in earth/sun relations.

It is "confirmation bias" as well when high-powered intellects with political agendas hijack the science to promote their agenda.

They should make a law that speakers must be installed in public restrooms and poop/grunting sounds should be played at all times. They should have air fresheners that pump out pooh smell. This way Noone will know who is making grossness in the potty.

great more laws..

why do people turn togovernment for every lil problem!

I ****ing love this idea. I'm not even kidding.

Lots of bathrooms like this all over the world except America.

But where could a group of women go to gossip about their dates? This would destroy a time-honored tradition.

Honestly, I do not care who is going to the bathroom in the stall next to me. For something we all have to do several times a day, we sure are weird about it. We all make noises, we all make smells. Why are we all ashamed?

I'm not.
I am proud sometimes though

not entirely sure if this thread is still on topic, pretty sure the mods don't give a damn.
But it is true science that gals like to have a refuge spot on dates where they can gossip about their various predicaments of the moment. Sometimes it even helps to have a private place to barf. Or a place that can be politely referenced where she can just call a cab, and go home.

Lots of places don't. I'm pretty comfortable bailing outta the bus in the bush and squatting a few feet from the lady on the other side of the same bush. But, for the pee thing, it's gents to the road side, ladies to the curb side. Just courtesy, really, but a gentleman defers to the ladies on stuff like this.

BTW, as might be expected, deniers of human caused climate change have seized on this study to claim humans are not the principle cause of global warming. Silly folks....

https://climatefeedback.org/evaluat...-causes-climate-james-barrett-the-daily-wire/

I appreciate having this study of chaos theory applied to the orbital mechanics of the solar system brought to my attention. I was not aware of it, and it's fascinating, and pretty darn exciting, providing, as it does, the first clear evidence for the chaotic solar system theory....
It's actually irrelevant whether it's human caused, the issue is whether we have an effective plan that will make a difference.

OK, so we know we burn stuff, and breathe. We do not know the relative impact of our gas contributions in proportion to natural cycles or events. Lots of forest fires in one year can outproduce us humans worldwide.
We have no data on soil emissions, or organic decay emissions, or ocean emissions beyond wild speculations. Oh, can you find one study on the gas released at the ocean surface, say a meter square, across one year? Didn't think so..... Instead we wave our hands like clouds and make up data. Photosynthesis removes carbon, so does chemical deposition of carbonates. Precambrian carbonates are all chemical deposition, having occurred before life took hold.

While we have reasoned estimates of atmospheric carbon dioxide going back a hundred million years perhaps, it's pretty certain that we had huge carbon dioxide burdens in our atmosphere in most of the "carboniferous epochs" of geological time. That's freakin' why we had rainforests at the poles. And photosynthesis to beat the band.

I argue that relevant, non-political science would address issues without preaching about AGW or demanding the establishment of horrific regulations/taxes incorporated into a brave new world of absolute government domination and re-distribution of wealth on a plan to enrich Al Gore, the spawn of coal mining corporate wealth, with made-up "carbon credits" for alleged shifts in production/use of carbon. Sure, the third world might need hospitals, but without power for air conditioning they'd stink in more ways than one.

I welcome new technology and higher-order energy production technology and the diminution of King Coal and Queen Oil. Cold Fusion is back on the radar with industrial prototype plants being built. But what to do with the miscellaneous isotope byproducts like gold and beryllium.... not much radioactive stuff seen so far. . . .

And, as I've said, it is my view that besides planetary tilt shifts, we have an immense cyclical system right here on earth. Oceans with currents determined by annual ice melt and salt concentrations arising from subtropical "deserts" in our oceans, where evaporation greatly exceeds rainfall. The source for most of our planetary precipitation. A driver for chemical deposition of calcium and magnesium carbonates....

As yet, we have done nothing to research changes/cycles in sea temps at any depth, and that is where most of the heat balance in our oceans exists...90% PLUS. Our present scientists are mere babblers without knowledge like that.

Just sayin'..... no doubt human use of fuels adds to nature's balance, and no doubt we see some effect in warmer atmosphere from that. but it is still quite debatable whether our oceans are a driver on a larger scale, outgassing carbon dioxide in some times of ocean warming, and powerful enough to exacerbate a climate shift to the warm side.... like has happened perhaps preceding the sharp onset of ice ages. The simple result of more evaporation from warmer seas.... Did you never notice, Red, that during ice ages, it is mostly the Hudson Bay/Great Lakes ice sheet, far more than anywhere in Russia or Europe? Why? Nice source for moisture in that Gulf, bro.

Looking at it all, the first thing I see is political motive, and political research granting, and political "science" groomed to satisfy the political agenda. Next I see all the big stuff nobody knows, or has ever researched, which makes our present science unsatisfactory speculation, not real science.

Yes, I've believed, from the simple fact that ice ages/interglacial warms appear to have about a ten-fold temperature factor stronger than our highest AGW estimates in their cycles, that there are bigger issues to be concerned about.

But having RAVING`POLITICAL AGENDAS at the center of a scientific issue is just nuts.
