Durant with high praise for Rudy

For who? The Warriors or Lakers? No way the Millers take that tax bill.

If KD wanted to come here they would bend over backwards to make it happen. You don't think Gail wants to add NBA championship team to her and Larry's legacy. She is at the age where thoughts of her legacy are front and center. Noone wants to be forgotten.
I still don't understand the whole "the Miller's are only concerned with profits from the Jazz" argument. More than 2/3 of her net worth is tied up in the Jazz. She could have sold them. She and her family would be better off monetarily.

Will the Jazz pay the luxury tax to make the playoffs, probably not. Would they to chase a chip with a top NBA talent, yes I think they would. Gail might even think it's her duty for the betterment of her state and her church to do so.

Cool. You can live in pretend world all you want, but the Jazz are never going to go that high over teh cap. They might dip into the tax, but trust me they will never be heavy repeat tax payers. If they got KD, they would not re-sign Ingles or Hill.

They are not going to re-sign Hill for 30+ million regardless. I am not sure anyone will unless the Jazz go on a crazy big tear in the playoffs with him leading the way.

The whole idea of the Millers being cheap really misses the mark. Larry was about successful business practice. Often that correlated with financial prudence. People say we don't have a championship because he didn't pony up money to bring in another star with Karl and John. Ok, who? The biggest problem I saw stemmed from some management issues and KOC. When Larry died, KOC and Greg were simply passive -- they thought consistency and staying the course was the independent variable that Larry brought for success -- they were wrong. They even paid the LT to remain passive. Luckily, they're both kind of out of the picture. Anyone without peanuts for brains know that you're not spending money on salaries or tax if you brought in Durant, you're investing that money and getting a great return on it.

It's not about being cheap. I just dont think they will be willing to pay an insane tax bill, which is what would have to happen if we had Durant/Ingles/Hayward/Hill/Gobert on one team.

I think they are willing to go into the tax to an extent for X amount of years.

it's incredible how much this number continues to soar into Exaggeration Station. :eyeroll:

I guess we're not gonna be able to sign Durant if we bow to Hill's 50m/y demands.

****ing George Hill!

It would be damn good and a title contender. Winning a title here would be so much better for Durant's legacy than winning in Golden State. Wish he could see that or would have been sagacious enough to see that this past offseason, of course Rudy and Gordon had not took the leap yet.

Sagacious.. Love it. I am not too proud to admit I had never heard that word. You are a sage for using such a word in this context.

1) The Millers have never been "tight" with money as it relates to the Jazz. They have not thrown money around like some owners have but they have not been cheap in any sense of the word. In fact they have gone above and beyond in building and funding this team in a responsible and yet generous way.
2) Put me in the camp that believes is a top 3 or top 5 star wanted to come to Utah and that had high likelihood of putting us over the top for a championship they would do so in a New York minute.

This. He will forever have the "coattails" asterisk, the way LeBron carried the "custom-built super-team" asterisk until he pulled off a pretty solid championship in Cleveland. Anyone can win a championship on a team full of all-stars. In fact if they don't win it is probably says more about their failure than a championship would about their success.

From your fingers to Durant's psyche...
