Someone probably killed him.
A theory floating around the internet right now is he was murdered and it was made to look like a suicide.
That would fit with the narrative that he just got acquitted and the appeal for his previous conviction was looking promising... i.e., he had no reason to commit suicide. He even looked to the jury and 'acknowledged' them when he was pronounced not guilty in the verdict last week. That's not a sign of someone wanting to die.

Of a double murder, he was still serving time for a another. You reckon a 6'2 240 pound pro football player was overpowered, suffocated, without obvious sign of injury, positioned in his cell, the cell door barricaded and the murder or murders escaped the locked cell before the body was found? Hmm yeah that sounds far more likely than spoilt athlete with no impulse control, made another, in a long line of stupid decisions and hung himself? Yeah must be a conspiracy

Yes he's serving time for another, but I read somewhere that the appeal was progressing well and with the momentum of the acquittal it seems odd to me, just the timing of it. Just seem odd to me to not go through and exhaust the appeal process before doing something this reckless.
He's made reckless decisions his whole life! Bar fights, shootings, not to mention **** that has been covered up and never heard of and finally my old team mates are at the Whitehouse and I'm here, how do I make it all about me? I know!
I hear you, and that's one side of the argument.
The other side would be there are a lot of people thinking he's 100% guilty of that double murder. I followed that trial very closely, and to be honest with you, considering all the evidence, I for one thought he was guilty. I was surprised with the not guilty verdict. There, I said it. I thought he should have been convicted based on all the evidence.
So imagine how many people in that prison were ticked off by this guy who got away with murder(s) because he could afford a hot shot lawyer, while everyone else had to serve life. And imagine this lawyer is now on his way to a successful appeal, and imagine how pissed off these people could be. And imagine 5-6 people feeling that way and wanting to do something about it. Maybe 1-2 of those people were prison guards who were willing to turn a blind eye. Who knows?

Are prison officials lying about the circumstances under which he was found? They stated he attempted to block the cell door from the inside before hanging himself with a bedsheet. If the cell door was blocked from the inside, how do the hypothetical guards or inmates that hung him get out of the cell themselves?? How could they block the cell from the inside, exit the cell, and the cell door is still blocked from the inside? That would seem to be a physical impossibility. Unless we assume he was murdered and the cell door was not blocked, and they are lying about that. I think it's extremely unlikely that happened. None of us knew the man, or his interior state of mind that we can actually say he could not possibly have committed suicide. It just seems far more likely that he killed himself. Unless he left a note saying why, we may just have to be armchair psychiatrists about it, but the possibility that prison officials are covering up what they did, or inmates did it to him just seems the stretch of all stretches to me.

Wasn't a murder. Dude is a psychopath. Love the people saying "but it doesnt make sense". Lol. This is Aaron freaking Hernandez- of course it doesn't make sense. Definitely killed himself.

I think the timing is just odd. I am no specialist when it comes to these matters but I tend to think of suicide coming after a traumatic experience or "the last straw".
It's odd because he's been in prison for quite some time and just received some positive news. So the "why now" question is appropriate.

As far as the conspiracy goes, occam's razor. Or if you prefer, sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. Or if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and sounds like a duck, odds are it's a duck.
