who should the jazz acquire?

If I knew we'd use every dollar of "savings" from attaining Patrick Beverley for a big splash at PF, then I'm ready to vote for Bev. He's a better on-ball defender than Hill, and I think he's demonstrated that he can hit the open, catch-and-shoot 3. If we retain Hayward, Ingles, and Hood, then we have plenty of playmaking. And if we brought back Millsap, then we'd have even more. Basically, the idea that Bev allows us to get Love or Millsap without paying a huge tax penalty is extremely enticing.

So the Jazz can just take Rubio straight up, dont even have to trade Diaw, until July 1st, right?

I bet Thibs wouldn't mind that if he knew he could land one of these top PG's in FA. If they move Rubio they have enough room for a max since Pekovic's contract no longer counts against the cap and they can cut Jordan Hill. They could target Lowry, Hill, Holiday, and CP3. It'd be super risky to deal Rubio before July 1st like the Jazz probably desire though without knowing for certain they can get one of those guys. After those top 4 it drops off considerably to Jeff Teague and Derrick Rose.

How many other teams can acquire Rubio without sending back salary like the Jazz? If there isnt any, then the cost probably wouldn't be that high.

*If* the Jazz get Rubio there has to be a somewhat significant change of pace for the Jazz. You can't be the 29th paced in the NBA with Rubio as your starting PG.

Everyone choosing Hill over Bledsoe needs to call an Uber. You're drunk.

Hill is eons better than Bledsoe.

Bledsoe has played half a NBA season or less due to injury 3 times in his 7 year career. And 2 of those have been with Phoenix, who are lauded as having one of the top medical teams in the NBA.

In the past 3 years Bledsoe has played more games than Hill. He's also 3 years younger. Hill's toe is concerning.

Could Utah clear enough cap space for Millsap?
Love is unlikely. Who would Cleveland want back via trade? They're still trying to hold together their team for one last season.

Turf toe is concerning? It's not like a torn ACL or a bad back. Hill needed to shut it down earlier last season and let it heal. But Utah didn't have other options at PG. Mack and Neto are 3rd-stringers. Exum was underwhelming. George rushed back too soon (twice) and never gave it a chance to heal.

If we got Millsap it would have to be in a sign and trade. We dont have enough room to sign him outright unless Hayward and Hill both leave.

Cleveland doesn't want anything from us, but we can facilitate them getting George because Indiana doesn't want Love but I'd assume they'd take Favors + picks + Hood or Exum. Same thing with NY and Carmelo.

I'll bet Boston has offered Indiana Tatum. Getting George (with a commitment to extend for 3 years) AND Hayward as a FA is worth Boston giving him up. Utah can't match that short of giving up Gobert, which would be ridiculous.
