What's new

The Jazz have acquired the 13th pick and select Donovan Mitchell

I like how Kanter being traded for nothing was brought up except we're getting a 1st-round pick in the teens next year. OKC couldn't trade him and his big *** contract for a 2nd-round pick right now. So, who really won?

Boris will wait an see. So far Utah has

-Trade number 3 pick Kanter for nothing.
-Trade two firsts for Trey.
-Draft Exum 4th pick bust.
-Trade a former 12 pick an a 24 pick for a 13 pick.

Not being negative on this kid hope he blows up just sayin Utah management does not have a record of increasing asset value in the draft. I hope he does not bust like Trey Lyles an I hope Lyles the best hope he can find his groove.
Don't u think every gm has things like this on their resume?
There were several people who didn't like the Burke pick at all.

I'm proud to say I hated the pick.

Drop the Drop the mic WC.
The guy drafted third an maxed out after his $16mil rookie deal.

That's the best u got? At least DL was smart enough not to max Kanter. There's that.

At minimum, Mitchell should become the lockdown perimeter defender we will need to compete with GSW in the future. Personally, I believe he has the potential to develop into one of the better 2-way players in the league.

His physical tools & mentality make him a fairly safe bet IMO, especially when all you're risking is Lyles + a late 1st. Great trade by DL, has the potential to go down as 1 of the best moves of his tenure as GM.

That's a 12 and a 24 pick turned into a 13.

I was cool with it for a minute cuz I thought that maybe we made the pick for someone else. Maybe this was part of a package. Now that it seems that it is not I'm super bummed.

I doubt we keep Hayward on the promise of a late lottery pick. Cuz they have turned out so great in the past.

How many people who lauded the Burke pick "owned" that failure?

My call was upside: average starter, downside: average backup. Stated differently, range was 15-45 among all NBA PGs.

Clearly was below my downside.

Yes, but even 2's need traditional PG skills.

I agree that it is "great" for 2s to have traditional PG skills (Ginobli, Harden, Jerry West) but disagree that this is "needed": 2s who are shooters or scorers have a place in the league: Reggie Miller, DeRozan, Iverson, Drexler, Korver, JR Smith..... Not to mention the 3 & D guys.

Uhh, everyone loved Lyles last off-season. He might have gotten off to a bad start, but by the end of his rookie year and then the 2nd SL people loved him. He just sucked *** this year.

Nope. Not everyone. I was cautiously optimistic his first year, but still extremely skeptical about him ever becoming a decent defender. I really hated that pick, and I'm usually supportive of the draft to a fault, because it's so much of a crap shoot. I hope Bradley doesn't fall into becoming the replacement for fans frustrations. Fans are going to expect a lot for the price we paid to move up 2 spots.

I think the problem with Lyles is that he just expected to be given playing time because he was a lottery pick. He didn't see the progression from 4th big to 3rd to possible starter. Even as the 3rd big, he could have gotten 30 minutes, if Favors played 15 as the backup 5.

I agree with you. Jazz need to add someone. But who would have Utah traded for with the #13 and Trey, Porzingis? Do you think Jackson trades Kristaps for Mitchell, Lyles and Hood?

Hayward is likely gone or he isn't. I'm not sure much of anything Utah could do would sway him. Two of Utah's "Big 3" is/was represented by players the Jazz had to re-sign (Hayward and Hill).

If Gordon leaves, life goes on. I think Lindsey adds a value veteran PG like Beverley or Rubio and tries to get a veteran shooter in a cap dump.

It's Trey Lyles and Tyler Lydon for Donovan Mitchell.

I'd do that trade all day today, and tomorrow, and the next day.

Whether Hayward stays or not, it was the right move. Perimeter defenders with offensive skills are pretty difficult to find. I don't see how you could be bummed about it.

Lol Donovan Mitchell posted this picture on twitter and tagged Hayward in it, then immediately deleted it. Trying to recruit Hayward to stay?

Why delete it? :(

lol idk, but I pulled up twitter and he basically deleted it within seconds of posting it. I guess he just didnt want to be annoying or something, idk.

The best part is how Hood started took 1 shot, and got pulled for the vet. Mitchell is all about the big lineups.

Didn't Mitchell say Gordon Hayward was one of the most underrated players? I think it was in his post workout interview.

Cmon rook. Endear yourself to him. We know Hayward is a gamer. I'm gonna need to see more effort out of Mitchell here.
