I wonder if the Jazz squad plans to stay at Hayward's until 8:00 PM PST, and spend 6-8 watching the Jazz summer league game against the Spurs. Only a couple hours until then and I'm sure they'd like to take the opportunity to watch Exum, Mitchell, Bolomby, etc all together.

I don't think that's realistic. I also don't know exact rules about salary matching.

Favors, Burks for Love for Melo fits just fine for all 3 teams. Take out Burks and substitute Exum and Diaw and you get the same result. Jazz have their 2018, 2019, and 2020 first round picks they could throw in there, plus a crap load of 2nd round picks in the next 3 years.

Maybe. Rubio is going to get paid in two years. I still think the Jazz are counting on Exum to continue development and take over for Rubio at that point. Not sure how much Mitchell changes that equation - guess we'll see.
 
Even if Hood is at the meeting, I don't think Hayward would be pissed/offended if the Jazz traded him. He's smart enough to know you can't pass up on acquiring a 4x all-star, 2x All-NBA player with a ring. Hayward wants to win...Love would make this Jazz team the 2nd best team in the entire NBA.

I don't think it has so much to do with Hayward being mad about it as much as the fact that it would be a douche thing to do to Hood. Jazz front office just doesn't treat people that way. They could be crapping all over Hill right now, but they've been nothing but respectful.

It doesn't fit NYK to lose Melo for negative-value Burks and semi-dead Favors. Maybe if they rehab their value, but not atm.

I agree. I also just don't know, with GSW being what they are, if it's smart to mortgage our developing (cheaper) assets - and their potential future impact - for a guy who will be looking for a new contract at exactly the same time as the point guard you just traded for, while you've got two max level salaries tied up with your small forward and center. If he can pull it off for Favors, Burks, and a pick, that makes a lot of sense. If they want Exum or Hood, we're starting to get into uncomfortable territory for the Jazz's ability to slide in to championship contention once the Warriors begin to decline.

You make the best move you have now. You don't worry about what will happen in 5 years. What if another super team emerges? Wait another 5?

Love added to the team would make us competitive with GSW, IMO. They're still better, but who knows what could happen!
