Hayward signing outright (reported rumor)

Ainge won't even give us the TPE which costs him nothing. Not surprised. Unscrupulous. Probably holding a grudge we wouldn't give a 1st for Crowder.

The Celtics are not motivated to help the Jazz any way whatsoever. Would have been a nice gesture, but he's not obligated.

Why should Ainge feel compelled to give us anything?

Professional courtesy. Son's campaign. Saving face in a state he's connected to.

On the flip side there's only one reason not to do it -- because he's a dick.

DL twice facilitated the Warriors championships.

We probably did. It was reported he wanted a pick + a good young player.

I think Gordon gets his only feedback on Jazz message boards. Is he that dysfunctional to not be able to talk to his former employers? This is like giving the bird to everyone three times over. Chris Paul could do it, but Gordon couldn't? Is his family pushing him to act this way? Strange indeed.

Does he hate Gail Miller? What the heck is wrong? It's a big mystery, not because of idle speculation but because his behavior. Something ugly happened to him or his family or something ugly in his view of the Jazz organization. It is one or the other. If I was a reporter my curiosity would be very high.

Ainge and others look at the Jazz like a big dumb sap freezer. When they get low on good meat ,they just come to the dumb sap freezer and take them the best meat in there.wash rinse repeat.

Lol.

Look, don't give up assets for nothing.

Ainge is signing Hayward whether we "trade" him or not. So because of 'courtesy' he should just give us an asset? That's hilarious.

And DL made those trades bc we needed to fill up cap space and we got draft picks. It benefitted both teams. Ainge has no reason to give us a TPE. It doesn't benefit him.

But the Celtics aren't actually giving anything. That's why this is so stupid. They want the Jazz do send them a 2nd round pick IN ADDITION TO them taking our best player?

Yeah, sorry, that's just ****ed up. They give up literally nothing by agreeing to do a S&T. In fact, that TPE is MUCH more likely to negatively impact a different team in the NBA, in other words, more likely to help the Celtics anyway.

But again, and it can't be restated enough, the Celtics lose NOTHING by agreeing to do a S&T. Nothing, except maybe their growing reputation as total ****ing dicks.

They already made moves so that they didn't need what we could give them. But... before they did that, we could have given them some cap space for a player that seemed disgruntled and plays the same position as Hayward. I wouldn't have cost them anything. We would have been giving them cap space. We obviously would have gotten more out of the deal, but it isn't like we would have gotten anything by screwing them over, it would have cost them nothing to throw us a bone. But Ainge probably figured he could squeeze us and we weren't in the mood for being squeezed, so it didn't happen.

Your last sentence, if this had been done on the 5th or 6th it WOULD have benefited them. I would have ****ing benefited them. It seemed like a no brainer deal at the time. Everyone comes out feeling okay.

At this point the Jazz FO wouldn't piss on Ainge if he was on fire. Maybe that never matters. Maybe one day he dies in a ****ing fire.

Let me break this down for you.

The TPE would help us, not Boston. Correct? So it's valuable, but only to us.

Let's say you and I are in a competitive business together. I have something that's worthless to me. It could be somewhat valuable to you though. Am I just going to give it to you? Hell no! I'm competing with you. If I get no benefit from this, then it ain't happening.

Do you understand?

Sure, they could've done a deal before. Would've been nice for us if they had.

We weren't the only game in town. Boston found a better deal for them. So now they're bad sports because they did what's best for them rather than feeling sorry for us? If the situation was reversed, and DL didn't take the best deal possible bc he felt bad for the other team, I'd be pissed at him, so would you, and rightfully so. This isn't a charity league, it is in all forms, a competitive business.

What asset would ainge be giving up? He would be getting an asset and giving up nothing at all.

But apparently he would rather screw the jazz than receive a free asset.

The fact that Lindsey couldn't talk Ainge into a free trade exception is pretty pathetic
