They already made moves so that they didn't need what we could give them. But... before they did that, we could have given them some cap space for a player that seemed disgruntled and plays the same position as Hayward. I wouldn't have cost them anything. We would have been giving them cap space. We obviously would have gotten more out of the deal, but it isn't like we would have gotten anything by screwing them over, it would have cost them nothing to throw us a bone. But Ainge probably figured he could squeeze us and we weren't in the mood for being squeezed, so it didn't happen.
Your last sentence, if this had been done on the 5th or 6th it WOULD have benefited them. I would have ****ing benefited them. It seemed like a no brainer deal at the time. Everyone comes out feeling okay.
At this point the Jazz FO wouldn't piss on Ainge if he was on fire. Maybe that never matters. Maybe one day he dies in a ****ing fire.
