I agree. There would have had to have been enough thought that he could actually pan out for them to pull the trigger. They would not have done it if there were convinced he sucked.

Nice try. Probably more voices in the room than 2. It's probably not even DL heading up the discussion, but KOC or something.

I don't think anyone thinks that.

I think some people believe that he was new in the job and still in training and didn't want to step on anyone's toes and possibly deferred a bit to the "vets" of the process. He probably liked trey, most people did at that time, but I think it's entirely possible that he liked someone else more but wasn't quite ready to rock the boat and make big waves that early into his new gig (that wasn't entirely his gig yet iirc. From what I recall KOC and DL were kind of co-gm's)

Isn't the draft process for Utah kind of a group think? Everyone has input, from the coaching staff, to the scouts, to the GM. This last draft I think DL mentioned some data from the analytics team.

I would think there's often differing opinions and the GM doesn't always prevail. I could definitely see a new GM, indeed one still under the shadow of KOC, deferring to the rest. In fact, the "I told you so" factor may have tipped the scales in DL's favor. IIRC, the FO was mixed on an actual rebuild and had a very hard time letting Millsap walk away - and finally firing Corbin.

Ya I don't think anyone really knows who was pushing the hardest for trey Burke in the draft..... hell maybe it was DL like cy and Siro seem to think. I think it's totally feasible that DL liked someone else more though and just didn't feel comfortable in his new job to just try to put his foot down and veto everyone else's opinion.

Randy Rigby: I like Burke, and Corbin has a degree in computers so he knows analytics too.

Randy Rigby: Think of all the #3 jerseys we could sell. Do you get it?-- 3 for Trey.
Corbin: Trey is not like all these other young players who need to learn by watching, I bet I could start him the first day.
