All-Time NBA Draft Round 1: elan_prodigy vs. Thee jazz fan

Which team would win in a 7-game series?

  • Total voters
    38
  • Poll closed .
Thee has a very good defensive team and it would be hard for elan to score on him. Plus, I can't vote for a team that has Simmons on it let alone is starting someone like Korver.

It's almost like the rules of the game have changed since Jordan and those guys played.
Just not much though. There was always a 3 point line. In fact iirc it was closer back in the day so it should have been even easier and more prevalent.
Hand checking was allowed which seems like it would discourage driving and encourage the 3 ball. And vice versa it seems like the lack of hand checking and longer distance 3 point line would encourage today's players to drive more and get fouled more and shoot the 3 less.

Hand checking was allowed outside the three point line back then. So you could body up shooters. If you didn't want them to shoot you could stop them.

I think analytics and bigs getting stretchy in addition to the phenomenon of steph are big contributors.

I do think analytics are a big reason but the rule change led to analytics looking good for the three point shot. I think San Antonio started a lot of the three point shooting, especially the corner three.

Also there wasn't always a three point line in the NBA. The ABA brought that to the NBA.
Well ya. I think we were taking more about ray Allen, Reggie miller time.

No. Just, no.

Three point line used to be further out.

Kawhi can't guard Bird. No one could guard Bird in his prime, NO ONE.

Bird was great but it absurd to make blanket statements like no one could stop bird. Kawhi is at least in the conversation for best lock down defender. In my write up I never said he'd stop Bird, but that it would take him more shots then usual to get his points, therefor slowing him down some at the very least
