5 best Kyrie Irving trade scenarios (Jazz mentioned)

ESPN Insider article
http://www.espn.com/nba/insider/sto...ie-irving-trades-see-cleveland-cavaliers-make

Brief Summary:

Trade couldn't happen until January because of Ingles.
Jazz get: Kyrie Irving and Edy Tavares
Cavaliers get: Dante Exum, Joe Ingles and Donovan Mitchell

Snippets from Chris Herring:

"Unlike most teams that wouldn't have the defensive strength to make up for Irving's shortcomings on that end, Utah -- with Rudy Gobert as a backstop -- might have the most fearsome rim protector in the NBA."

"The move would likely require the Jazz to take a page out of Houston's book and start two point guards. Offensively, the two of them could likely coexist seamlessly (and Irving would be the unquestioned No. 1 option, since Gobert doesn't require a ton of touches). Where Irving can put on lengthy dribbling displays that stagnate the offense, Rubio moves the ball. Where Rubio struggles to shoot, Irving is one of the best marksmen in the league."

Yeah, hard NO on this. It doesn't really help the Cavs in their Lebron window either, unless they figure Jingles for a Lebron replacement, which is reasonable, I guess. . .

I think Hood/Favors/Exum for Irving and Shumpert is better for both sides.

I know it's probably insane to be so reluctant to trading Mitchell, but he has star potential and appears to actually want to be here. I'm not trading a career for what may simply be two years of Kyrie Irving.

Look on the bright side. When ncj is online commenting here, another sheep spends the afternoon in safety. You are helping the animals without getting Sarah McLachlan involved. It is a worthy cause. . .
Lolololol

This is where I'm at too. Would love to get irving for the right price.

No mitchell, no gobert

No way would the Jazz trade Mitchell. I'll bet DL has proposed trading anyone except Mitchell and Gobert. And, of course, the recently signed FA's since they can't be traded until December. If a deal happens for Irving (to any team), it will go down before the season starts. I can't see Cleveland waiting until December or the deadline, especially if Irving just refuses to show up. Gilbert just wants a bigger haul, which he's not going to get.

When you cant get star player you have to play more team basketball with great ball movement. Kyrie is not that type of player. He would honestly set the Jazz back. He would lead league In scoring playing in SLC though. That I have no doubts about.

I know I shouldn't feed the trolls, but this is a great post. The Jazz are about ball movement, screens and great defense. That stops with Kyrie as everyone just watches him dribble. DWill was actually like that the last couple of years as he'd try to break down the opposing PG with his crossovers. That was terrible to watch.

Am I the only moron that wouldn't trade Mitchell for Kyrie straight up?

Nope. Like has already been said in this thread, I think Mitchell has star potential. Why trade him for what is most likely 2 seasons of Kyrie? I honestly can't remember ever being this enamoured with a Jazz draft pick that has yet to even suit up for the team. Maybe we end up being wrong, but as for now, I'm more than happy to roll the dice with Mitchell.

This.

Kyrie is a good player, but is he even a top 20 player in this league? With how hard-working, smart, and determined Mitchell has appeared so far I think this guy has a chance to be really special. Time will tell, but like you I'm happy to roll the dice.

Are you serious? or being sarcastic? I really can't tell. Because he is obviously a top 20 player. Probably more like a top 10 player.
Definitely not a top 10 player. He received even fewer votes than Hayward did in the All-NBA voting, and Hayward wasn't even close.

How many firsts would Cleveland have to add to get DM for Kyrie.... 5 or 6 at least I would guess.

I definitely dont think he is a top 10 player but I also dont think that is a good indicator. They play different positions and are only being compared to players at their position.

He is a pretty elite player that was a leading scorer in the playoffs for a team that won a championship last year and has outplayed the best PG in the NBA Curry three years in a row in the finals.

Im on the fence whether I would want us to trade for him or not. I really like our current team but he could make us really good. I think he is a better player than Hayward and 2 years younger. I am concerned he would leave after 2 years and I am not sure how he will fit or if he will be better than the players we would have to give up. I also think one of Rubio, Exum or Mitchell might end up being a better PG for our team in the future as well. The only trade I would consider would have to be Hood and JJ for him or maybe Rubio and one other player. I guess a 1st round pick as well. But I doubt they go for that.
