Chad Ford's Mock Draft - Utah Jazz Take Brandon Knight And Alec Burks

How special was Knight at running the point this year, frosh or not?

Also, he sort of reminds me of a more athletic, but less skilled (point skills, not shooting) Mike Conley. Not sure if i'm crazy about that. Maybe I'm just judging him based on his body.

Frosch is frog in german.

Ok agree somewhat but seeing as who will be left at #6 - I don't think Kanter (best big imho) or Williams (best shooter imho) will be there. Biyombo is big but not THAT big. Jimmer's a shooter but is he worth #6?

I wouldn't say Knight can shoot lights out but he can, and so can Burks.

Who would you pick with what's left at #6 fitting the big and can shoot bill?

I don't think Miller meant he wanted to see us draft Memo (big and can shoot), but I think if we draft someone who is not an outside shooter, he wants him to be a true big, and if we draft someone who is not big, he needs to improve our shooting.

I am just not that high on this draft. I would rather see us trade out of it and try to trade into the next draft and maybe pick up some nice pieces along the way. No one in this draft screams franchise player to me really, and I think if we have the chance to draft that high, then we need to be in a draft that might have players like that.

What about Biyombo's height (or lack thereof). I thought I saw him listed at something like 6'7" without shoes. Is that concerning at all?

Would a fair comparison of Hamilton be Young (from the Grizz)? A tough athletic wing that does a lot really good but nothing great?

Personally, I think Knight is probably going to be gone by #6. And the Jazz really need to improve that interior defense and outside shooting. Perhaps they go big at 6? I think if Knight is gone, the Jazz almost have to go big.

Hamilton isnt really tough, and he is a pretty good shooter. He is probably the best shooter outside of Jimmer that is considered a first round pick.

I agree. But all the other teams know how strong next years draft will be to, so getting someone to trade into next years draft with would be difficult.

The way this draft is starting to look Knight and Burks really might be the best we can get out of it. Pretty much no chance of trading out of this draft with how many guys are going back to school

I'd wager a decent sum of money at this point that either Knight or Biyombo will be there when the Jazz are on the clock. That is, unless we get leapfrogged by 2 teams... which would suck

I'm wondering if Knight might be turn out to be the best player in this draft.

He is very young, smart and has good fundamentals in place. I could definitely see that being the case after a few years of development.

Why a lottery pick on Burke if Hayward is the future 2?

I've come around on Burks simply because of the high-reward factor. His ability to finish at the rim is special, and he looks like a good rebounding guard. I wouldn't take him at 6, but if he is there at 12 then I wouldn't hesitate. If he can learn to play good system defense and develop a good set jumper (something Wade had to learn, fyi), then he'd be a good asset.

I don't think you worry about the Hayward vs. Burks issue for awhile. I'd give Burks a long stay in the second unit until he improved on the areas I mentioned, and if/when he deserved more minutes I'd slide Hayward to the 3 so that both could be on the floor. It'd be a good problem if they were both effective slashers and playmakers because we could have one on the floor at all times.

Ford has a revised Mock Draft that is ESPN Insider only. Can someone please post the Jazz portion here?
