Obviously there is some limit.

If Draymond Green was 2 inches taller he'd have a higher ceiling.

He wouldn't be Draymond Green. He simply wouldn't move as well, or it would be Chris Bosh height and wouldn't matter (not saying Chris bosh wasn't a good player, but he had a very strange amount of height from his neck and cannot figure out what advantage it serves besides maybe court vision).

So when Paul George or Giannis (reportedly) grew 2 inches after their rookie year they lost potential?

Have you ever seen someone grow two inches and completely change body type? Draymond Green wouldn't suddenly have Chris Bosh's body if he grew 2 inches.

I think that's just the way he moves. It wouldn't matter if he was 6'2, he'd still move that way. Unless you have marfan syndrome or some other kind of rare growth disease, I don't think you can outgrow your body (if that makes sense).

And I assumed when someone said taller, they applied that growth to their entire body to how their proportions currently are, not just the top of their head. If not, we could assume the growth takes place anywhere, like 2 inch longer legs which result in much longer stride, or two inches longer in the torso, which could negatively affect center of gravity.

It's multivariate, but my point with regard to Draymond Green is the height doesn't provide much advantage by itself, while it typically means additional skeletal mass and increase in subsequent muscle weight and an increased center of gravity, all of which impedes movement. And again, if Draymond Green loses some of his physical versatility, he suddenly becomes a much less special player, and in today's NBA particularly, much less of a nightmare to deal with.

Perhaps it is better stated that there are some players that are the exceptions that prove the general rule that height is advantageous for someone playing basketball.

Literally all I am saying is that not in absolutely every circumstance does being taller make you a better basketball player.

For certain players, having a low center of gravity is a good thing. Being able to get lower than your defender and drive hard makes you tougher to defend. The Jazz have struggled defending smaller, more explosive PGs who use their quickness to create space--e.g., Kemba Walker, Isaiah Thomas, Dame Lillard, Eric Bledsoe, etc. Mitchell's body type is ideal for an explosive lead guard. I just think he'll eventually be better off at the 1 than on the wing.

I think the Jazz are ultimately comparing Mitchell to guys like Bledsoe, Lillard, Westbrook, etc. and other powerful, athletic combo guards.

Agree with all this. I still think when Exum is fully physically developed at about 25-26 he'll be a beast

I wouldn't say that Exum moves weird. I would say that his handle makes it hard for him to move at all. He's driving a sports car with bald tires.

Definitely an Exum fan. Love what he can do when he actually gets opportunity (OKC game last year, that 2nd quarter in the Warriors blowout in the playoffs). Too many times Exum has played off ball, sit in the corner, run back on defense, sit in the corner, rinse, repeat. I don't think Exum gives you much as an off-ball 2 guard. I'm hoping he can play a role similar to Rubio does with the starters.
