I know.. this is another one of those - Is it Player A or Player B thread..

But - realistically Irving is a lock at #1 and Williams is a lock at #2 - and so I think the Jazz will be left with a decision of Kanter vs Knight. (unless Sota really mess this one up BIG and draft Kanter - which means Williams falls to our lap at #3).

So who would you pick? Kanter to form a formidable front court combo as scoring C the defensive big Favors?

Or - in an era where PG dominates - does the Jazz find a PG of future in Knight?
 
Personally I would pick Kanter.

It's not everyday you find a skilled offensive minded big with Kanter's size and drive.

OK - you're still missing a future PG - but we still have Harris who KOC seems to be pretty high on. Plus - with Hayward's play making ability, may be pick up Fredette at #12 and see how they mesh. If all else fails we can always pick up another PG next year with GS' pick.
 
I like Knight a lot, but I think you go with Kanter here.

Talented big men are harder to get than talented guards.
 
Now THIS is a legit question. I don't know. Brandon Knight could be an amazing player and legit PG, or he could be a poor-man's Jason Terry. Very young, seems to have a nice base of fundamentals that needs to add polish and some discretion but definitely young enough to do it. But it hasn't quite happened yet.

Enes Kanter has all of the tools to be Zach Randolph. Does not actually playing anybody in a few years at a critical time change his ceiling, though? DOES he have an injury problem that he's trying to hide? What IS he trying to hide?

I don't know.

I understand you might not be a fan of Al Jefferson, but don't you think he will be able to at least match what Randolph is doing for the Grizzlies??

Realistically unless they trade Millsap, I don't see the benefits of getting Kanter. He is very talented and he might be more athletic than what he has showed, but with Jefferson, Favors and Millsap playing in front of him, Kanter will probably start to be called a major bust in late November.

Knight is my choice. He is a very good kid from what I read which shows he will continue to work hard to improve. I am concerned about his passing, but the good thing is he can back up both guard positions, which should give him plenty of playing time to develop.

While we are on it, I am really not sure how happy Derrick Williams would be if he indeed falls to us. One, if he proved to not able to play SF, then he is stuck behind our frontcourt. Two, even if he pans out, will he get us into a second episode of D-Will trade? But, if he does fall, I might look to pre-arrange a deal with the Cavs to trade for Knight at No.4 and some other assets - maybe a second round pick at least.
 
Knight. He is the less risky of the two and I think he has just as much upside. He can play alongside Harris, so it's not like we have to boot Harris out of town right away to get this guy minutes. He is a great kid, great work ethic, great shooter, and has the clutch gene. He needs to work on his PG skills and his shot selection.

Kanter could be a great offensive player..... I guess. He was a prodigy at age 16 winning MVP after MVP, that's great, but was he just a man among boys? His best game that everyone is enamored with was more of an All-Star game than an actual game, and again was against players the same age. I know he has gotten minutes at top EURO leagues at a young age which is nearly unheard of, but it's not like he was producing crazy numbers, he was just getting minutes (which is impressive, from what I hear). But for me, if he continues to refuse to play any kind of scrimmages against other prospects, that raises some red flags. Even if he did play scrimmages against other prospects though, its not like there are any other legit big men in this draft too see him go against. I guess we could see how he D's up Williams and Morris, how he rebounds against Fahried and Leonard, but there are no other BIG men we can see him go up against.
 
What's with all this talk about DWill not being happy if he fell to us? His other options would be Minnesota or Cleveland which aren't usually at the top of most people's destination lists. Granted I'm extremely biased, but from a Bball perspective and a living standard I'd pick SLC as the #1 destination out of the top 4 picks.
 
Probably Kanter. He's bigger.

Guys like Knight come about 5 times per draft.

Good solid athletes who have decent PG skills and potential.

He's at the Combine for the rest of the week.
 
Most sites list Kanter @ 6'10", but I have seen some that list him @ 6'9". If he is actually 6'9" then he can't play center, so I would take Knight or go for a Euro.

I see what you're saying.

But I'm still yet to be convinced that Knight has the athleticism, leaping, the ability to finish at the rim...

At the same time he's not a floor general or is really known for his passing ability neither..

He's more of a combo guard - kinda reminds me of Mayo - not tall enough to be a 2 but not really a true PG.

Too many if's and but's for me to go #3 IMHO
