Anyone notice Russ getting getting pissed off with Abrines and Adams in that last qtr? He left Adams hanging on a high 5 after exchanging words
-- I think he was a bit embarrassed that Mitchell blew past him twice in a row and lashed out

Mitchell is good. He's going to have a great career. He's doing this in his rookie year against a great defender and great defense overall. Really impressive.

How the f*** is Mitchell a rookie pls

gotta love mitchell swatting at adams in the same manner as a tiny fly does to a majestic water buffalo

Mitchell wants to die apparently. Run into Funaki and have the gall to mouth off to him.

Did Mitchell really get mad at Steven for just standing there? lmao

Mitchell please.. Adams would snap you in half.

Mitchell can't miss. Dude never misses when he plays us. He is pretty good and I bet Denver regrets letting him go. He's a great defender as well.

Jazz have nothing offensively without Mitchell. He is their sole option on that end

Thunder guys really like the kid. After the game was over, a number of them met with Mitchell and spoke to him at length, including Russell Westbrook, who in a rare move for him, had something he wanted to share with the rookie. I imagine it went something like, “Don’t stop...don’t stop...don’t stop beating the eggs until they really start to form soft peaks. That’s where the magic really happens in your souffle.”

OK3 gives love to rookie Donovan Mitchell — including Russell Westbrook, who rarely ever does such a thing.

Trade suggestion .... Their Donovan for our Donovan ?

I wonder what that postgame conversation was between Russ and Mitchell. Very out of the ordinary for russ.

Oh and Donovan Mitchell is the real deal. I can't remember the last time I have seen a true rookie be given the shine for a team trying to make the playoffs and performing this well. Ben Simmons is a red shirt and so was Embiid last season. Mitchell has been as potent as Oladipo has been for Indiana, but he hasn't been in the league for years like Vic has.

Imagine being that good as a rookie that you get 3 different all stars and Raymond Felton swarming you at the end of the game just to encourage you
  • Felton: "stay away from the buffet line"
  • PG: "stay away from crazy hoes"
  • Melo: "You can spe77 words with numbers if you want"

Its funny, Donovan Mitchell is getting exactly the treatment Hayward always wanted.

I already love him more than my own father

Must feel surreal but also the sheer fact that Russ alone was one of them. It's really rare that he talks to anyone from the opposition after the game and gives props/advice (unless he's mad and trash talking lol).

Russ never talks to opponets this kid is big time in utah

He has that fire and he's relentless like WB. Says a lot that so many vets show him love like that. Kid's going to be a star.

people have compared him to lillard but ive always said hes more westbrook

He's the closest to WB I've ever seen.
  • Stop, I can only get so erect
Love watching the fire that this guy has. I like Westbrook for that same reason, hope this guy lives up to the hype

Mitchell got that killer instinct just like Russ.

Yep, that kid is playing like an all star already. Fantastic.

What's the over/under on how many years til he's averaging 20 a game?

He's more a D-wade than Russ.

Didnt even think about it when i saw it, but I watch A LOT of thunder games and havent noticed Russ do something like this. Awesome to see

Only time I see him is when we play Houston I'll see Russ go hug Harden

Yes this really stood out to me because Russell doesn't talk to opposing players at all, unless the player is a former OKC and Russ likes him. He choose a rookie to mentor and one hell of a rookie he chose.

wow. I've never seen Russ show props to an opponent ever in his career.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen Russ do this. Jazz you got a special one!

this is cute af, but I laughed hard when PG13 pet him lol
  • Who's a good boy? You are!!
  • When he spaced out for a second after he pet him I lost it. Looked like he had a big realisation about life ahaha
Also you can see mitchell’s really listening to Russ. Great respect for each other

I legit thought they were gonna jump him because of that play where he was going at Adams...
  • That’s why russ pushed Adams away. Adams was born in the dark. They merely adopted it.
Dadbrook

one of the all time greats getting advice from russell westbrook

All of OKC's big 3 immediately going to him after the game tells you all you need to know about Mitchell

Russ doesnt even talk to his ex teammates after games. No one ever, never shakes up or anything. This is real af, Donovan better appreciate it

Donovan Mitchell is a damn stud

this years draft class is unbelievable! From Donovan Mitchell to OG from the Raps to Kyle Kuzma, so many god damn gifted players this year and the tenacity they all display to be better and not backing down is the right way to play.

Mitchell 12-16 for 29 points. Kid can score.

Really nice to see. Also it was all three of then plus Felton coming to him to give him some encouragement. That's honestly gonna be really great for Mitchell.

Made me smile seeing this. I love **** like this.

Paul George actually worked out with Donovan Mitchell before the draft and helped convince Don to stay in the NBA draft instead of staying another year in college. Must be cool for PG13 to see this kid succeed in the NBA so quickly.

Mitchell is getting a LOT of attention from the upper echelon of players in the league. It's really cool to see.

He's humble but he's confident. One of the Jazz beat writers asked him the usual rookie question. "What's does it feel like to step on the court with the guys you grew up watching on tv." Don answered the usual rookie answer and added something like, "They're on the court with me too." Like it wasn't just a one way deal in his mind.

Mitchell is ****ing special. All these vets seem to respect him, I know he absolutely ACED pre-draft interviews. And he's got all the talent he needs. So pissed we skipped him, even though I like Luke Kennard.

Jazz GM basically told Jazz employees that if word gets out how well Mitchell did in workouts for the Jazz, he will murder them, their wives, and children.

This is like Kobe's last season just in reverse. And I am extremely here for it

ROTY no doubt in my mind

This is awesome - I feel like a lot of players in the league like Donovan Mitchell because he wasn’t a high draft pick and is over achievining.

best assist of westbrooks career

Trey Lyles is nice and all but I have a feeling we are really going to regret that trade long term.

Man I want a PG neck caress

Anyone else go into this video thinking Russ was gonna be trash talking? Haha he rarely does **** like this but it was great to see.

Donovan Mitchell is the new community baby of the nba; Everybody likes to take care of him.

Westbrook is a good role model for Mitchell. He's been keep OKC relevant in a smaller market and isn't leaving. He could do the same for Utah.

Mitchell got next. Love seeing veterans show love to the future

Best rookie since Jordan, IDGAF

Laker fans wish they would've taken Mitchell over Lonzo Bust, I'll tell you that much

1, Mitchell
2, Ben Simmons (fading away with team's play tho)
3, Kuzman
4, Tatum
5, Lonzo

Here is the video after the game: https://zodab.com/nba/russell-westbrook-to-donovan-mitchell-dont-stop/

I keep thinking Mitchell will start to play more like a rookie but he's consistently the best player on the team game in and game out.

You can't take jabs at Westbrook. He plays the game harder than anyone ever has. He averaged a TRIPLE DOUBLE last year 31/10/10, and that's rounding down.

I sure can take jabs at Westbrick and will.

He did average a triple double. Although its very artificial stat stuffing to get it, especially the rebounds part. I also would not call someone who takes a lot of plays off on defense someone who plays the game harder than anyone ever has, although he isnt doing that this year as much as he did last year.

See, there is another jab, its pretty easy. You want to take a crack at it now?

Uh huh. Or, you’re just a weird ************ with bad takes

It does not need to be an either or, it can and probably is both. I am weird, I definitely have some bad takes just like everyone here including you and you take things waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy to serious and literally.

You got to loosen up some.

i wonder if Mitchell's rising stardom would be enough to convince PG13 to play in Utah?

Mitchell
Hood
PG
???
Gobert
Would that essentially mean that with all the PG/GH debates over the years, that we ultimately won?

If not George, maybe some other very good free agent(s). Certainly makes Lindsey's discussion with agents a lot easier: come to Utah to play alongside the best defensive 5 in the NBA and this year's ROY (or at least 2nd in the voting). And unlike RW, I don't see DM as a stat-chaser. He's going to share the ball.

After reading those okc comments, it got me thinking how he is this good already? It blows my mind!! I mean he's dominating and putting the jazz on his back as a rookie!!!
