Hood is the reason 3.0 (Thanks for reading)

6th men are very valuable as are guys who can shoot off the dribble at a high rate. No one is saying back-up/6th man, we are saying he is a 6th man. He has the potential to win multiple 6th man of the year awards and be a top off the dribble 3pt shooter in the NBA. Those are valuable things that dont suck, stink, or aint that good.

But his Defense "stinks"
His ability to get the line "aint that good"
and his Vorp "Sucks"

lol

I'm fine with him being that... but what do you pay that guy. Lou Will makes 7M and is criminally underpaid, but much better at the 6th man role than Hood. Will he get more money this offseason than Hood? I doubt it because of age.

Will Barton does a few more things, but not as good of a shooter... same age... is he getting more this offseason than Hood.

The contract is the worry to me.

I agree with this.

Biggest concern is getting strapped with a bad contract. it's not unheard of in the nba

He has been okay on defense this year. He makes good rotations and stays in front of his guy decent. Defensive stats for individuals are garbage.

Yes, sucks at getting to the line. He is a shooter and a very good one. We need that on offense and even as a starter. The team just needs him to stick to what he is good at pull up threes and spot up threes. Yes he can do some other stuff now and then but that should be his main role and there is nothing wrong with that.

Every team needs a good tall SG/SF that can knock down threes. Hood can do that. He can be a starter just fine. We just need other guys to create like Mitchell, Exum, Rubio, Ingles or someone else.

Is Klay not a starter? 84% of the shots he takes are assisted. For comparison Hood is 51%. I would like to see Hood get closer to 75%. 70% of his threes are assisted and that is a great number for him and he is doing great from 3. That should be his role, we just need other players to do more and players like Exum to be healthy or trade/draft another shot creator.

I am worried about a bad contract with Hood. They should trade him if they can get a better player. If not they have to let him get an offer and then decide if he is worth it. I am guessing based on the market no one makes a huge offer to Hood unless Hood really step up in the second half of the season but then we might want him more.

Lol, you think you are about solutions. I am grateful for a good GM who makes good decisions more often than not. I guess I am different than you. I would trade any player to improve our team and not trade players that are not better.

I know you feel its your obligation to think of trades, so keep it up I guess.

Its only unacceptable to not make trades if you get offered something better than you have. Its okay to let players walk sometimes if you have a plan. The Hayward situation hurt the franchise a bit but they are recovering just fine and will get some momentum.

We are still missing our best player Gobert for most of this season.

Frankly all I want to see is this roster healthy, sadly we probably wont get to see it.

Exum, Mitchell, Hood, Favors and Gobert Starting
Rubio, Ingles, Sef, Jerebko and Udoh off the bench

That is a really good lineup and could do something. The only one of those players that is UFA is Favors. Who would be easy to retain financially if he wants to come back.

Ron, I respect your opinion. And yes, sometimes you gotta let guys just expire. It's just easier and cleaner that way sometimes. And hypothetically, we would be great if everybody stayed healthy. Unfortunately, that hasn't been our reality for quite some time now. We might squeak into the playoffs as currently constructed. Maybe. And what's crazy is that we have a better chance of making the playoffs than keeping Favors. He just does not fit. He didn't fit next to Gobert against the Warriors last postseason and he hasn't so far this year.

So if we aren't contenders and we have an expiring piece, you trade him. We have let way too many great players just leave instead of getting value for them. I'm over that. Get assets to build around Mitchell and Gobert.

what I noticed about Hood is that when he misses a couple of shots in a row, his body language turns to total ****.

This has nothing to do with injuries. Year 4 - Rodney needs to grow the **** up and seize his talent or forever be a fringe bench warmer.

And you dont just bench someone because they start a game off badly. Shooters shoot and shots will fall. To bench him would be asinine.

Nah, with some players, sending them to the bench can definitely light a fire under their ***. I mean, weren't you making this argument against bringing him off the bench right before Quin decided to do it, and then he started playing better?

You can't treat all players the same. Some players can benefit from making them continue to earn their minutes. The one argument you could make is that Utah doesn't want to piss him off so that he decides to gamble on taking the QO. We need to try to sign him to a good deal, which is a good possibility IMO. Then next year he could be a nice trade chip at some point. Right now his trade value is limited, and with the lack of FA money around the league, Utah should gamble on signing him to a decent deal.

Hood has potential to be a deadly shooter in this league...but health concerns have severely limited him...when he’s on he’s a killer and when he’s off, he’s a killer (to his own team) if there is value to be had in trading Hood or Favors at the deadline,DL has to seriously consider moving on from them.

Yeah, I understand that we will probably lose Favors, and I understand your perspective. But I disagree about his fit next to Gobert. I think they fit great to elite on defense and okay on offense. Yes, they need three shooters on offense and some shot creators but we have those players, we just need to play them with those guys. Favors is a good player and so in Gobert.

Using the GS game as an example of why they dont fit makes no sense to me. Favors was injured and they didnt play together to even know if they could fit. In fact both Favors and Gobert were playing hobbled that is a terrible time to use as an example. We have multiple season of time together to know they can play together well and the stats back that up. This year they have not played together to really know and when they have they played with Rubio which hurts them and they also played with Hood and Mitchell early in the year when both of those guys were struggling.

Let Mitchell, Hood, Inlges, Favors and Gobert play together when healthy and they will do well. Or hopefully Exum, Mitchell, Hood, Favors and Gobert one day.

That said, go ahead and trade Favors if he gets us a better player in return or a solid asset if they FO believes he is leaving or dont want him as a part of the future for various reasons. But again, this is true of all our players.

Favors said he was 100% after the Golden State series ended. Hell, he was amazing in Game 7 vs the Clippers.

Favors and Gobert looked great defensively next to each other last season. But season ball and the playoffs are two different animals. Good teams would go small on us every single time if we tried to roll out Favors and Gobert together. Since neither can really post up, they hurt us offensively too.

I have hoped for a long time that Favors would pan out, but that had to happen at C. He refused to be a center and then we got Gobert. Time to move on...

My biggest issues with Hood are: 1. not bringing anything to the game when he’s not hitting his shot 2. lack of killer instinct. #2 really isn’t his fault but our current team is missing Rudy and Thabo isn’t always playing and I think we need a few more passion/dirty guys that light fires. Now I don’t necessarily expect that from Rodney and he’s certainly no wet blanket like Kirilenko or Boozer (thank goodness), but if we’re looking at locking up a decent part of our cap on him (or anyone) then I think him or anyone needs to bring at least one of those two things.
