Jazz Have to Change Starting Lineup

There are many problems w/ the Jazz, but one big one is that the starting lineup doesnt have enough firepower. Rubio/Ingles/Jerebko/Favors are four dudes who can't create their own shot. That puts too much pressure on Mitchell.

Jazz either got to take Rubio out and put Hood in at the 2, sliding Mitchell/Ingles into shared PG duties, or move Ingles out and put Hood in at the 3.

Hood certainly isnt playing well right now, but a 2nd shot at proving himself as a starter alongside the Jazz's star might refocus his game.

I kind of want the Jazz to lose every game for the rest of the year so we can maximize our chance of getting a star... so why change the starting lineup?

I mean, I also want to lose, but it'd be nice not to always be in that fashion.

Rubio to PHX
Washington second rounder and SA second rounder to Chicago

Greg Monroe to Chicago
This year’s second to Chicago

Mirotic to Utah

I have felt like Hood has been most successful off the bench, perhaps partially because of reduced pressure. I totally agree we need to give Donovan some relief as well. Quite frankly we need some more horses in the stable, but it's going to take time. TBH we have a pretty flawed team atm.

I also don't know why Bradley is not playing. Why not??? Feels Corbinesque on that one.

AB is another guy that I feel can create, but belongs on the bench as well. Trouble is he hasn't played well since december. JJ is the other guy who is obvi a low use guy, but can still create. Defense is another topic.

More horses..

Also, minor complaint, if the Jazz are getting their asses kicked can we at least see Tony Bradley play?

For reals?!? Udoh doesn’t need the mop up duty. I’d love to see something even if it was garbage time.

I wonder if that quip about tension bw coaching staff and management is actually concerning this, more than disagreements about possible trade options already on the table. DL could be asking Quin to try out some different rotations so he can get more data about who fits where in the long game.

I really have no basis for what I'm about to say, outside of my own wild speculation, but I could see Quin being the kind of guy who feels somewhat personally indebted in his relationships with his players. There was a lot of talk about how much he and Rubio were talking before the season, for example, and how it was really great for Ricky to finally have a coach who was invested in having a relationship. Perhaps Quin now feels like he'll be failing Ricky if he doesn't figure it out, etc. If something like that is the case, I could see how DL asking Quin to try Donovan at the point with Hood alongside him would create some high emotions. Same example could be applied elsewhere, but the Ricky relationship seems the most obvious.

I mean, I feel like Hood off the bench just kind of reinforces the bad habits he has built up the last year or so. Hood's most promising year is still his 2nd year when he managed to stay healthy most of the year and just played off Hayward. He had great moments in his 3rd year, but he was ultimately derailed by injuries before losing his starting job to Ingles as his defense was just superior.

Plus, as many have pointed out, Hood is still our best PNR player and when Rudy comes back, our two best PNR players should be running as much PNR together as possible. Hopefully he and Mitchell can start building more chemistry together like when Hood/Hayward were labeled the best young wing combo in the NBA by Rick Carlisle.

And thats why you dont have GMs as coaches. Quin should build that relationship but DL should also change it up if it doesnt work.

Keep him coming off the bench and throwing up forced shots is one way to make sure he doesn’t get overpaid. Start him next year when we lock him up for 10M per year.

I agree his best use is playing as the second or third option... but tough to send Rubio to the bench and lose any value he has. I guess maybe they could poke around and see if they can move him... if not make the change and tell him tough. Wouldn’t hurt his trade value if it is already nothing.

Sure, I get that, but I also think you want to actually develop him. I think the habits he has been developing *could* be permanent. I'd like to see him starting to see if it changes it. I mean, if the Jazz are going to suck, they should at least experiment.

And like I said, you can bench Ingles. I don't think he has an ego when it comes to starting.

Nah trade him for a mid first and move on.
