What's new

Nikola Mirotic

Yeah, I think Mitchell has been the best rookie this season.

But if there was a redraft today I'm not sure he goes first. I think it goes Tatum, Markkanen then Mitchell. Having a 7' sharp shooter who can drive is special to build around. Markkanen might be a better prospect than Porz.
Like the same team draft order? I think Mitchell goes #1 because he fits Philly.

Chicago does not value 2nd round picks.
Exactly his point.
We should stop offering something they don't value and offer them something Chicago does value instead.

The bottom line on any Chicago deal is that Utah isn't trading their first this year.

A 3rd team has to be involved that wants Favors enough to give up their late first rounder. Also that 3rd team has to rather have Favors than Mirotic (or the Jazz wouldnt even be needed). The Chicago/Cleveland/Utah deal is the most logical one. I don't think Jazz work a deal unless Cleveland agrees to get involved.

Yes, I think Tatum fits with them pretty well and would still be drafted higher. Or if the draft was redone more likely Boston keeps their pick and drafts the guy they want Tatum.

I personally like Mitchell but I am not sure he is the #1 draft pick if things were redone today. But there is an argument for it, no doubt.

0. And 6 attempts is generous because he's putting up 6.4 (not to split hairs), but doing so in typically 10 mpg less than all the other guys.

Mmm, if we consider KD a PF then he would be on the list. Other players on the fringes would be Markkanen (37.3%), Tobias Harris (42% but on 5.7 attempts), Kevin Love (41% on 5.7), and wait, wait for it....CJ Miles who plays SF/PF (37.9% yikes, I went there:confused:).

But yeah, we are pulling hairs here. We can make arbitrary cuts and use numbers as we please to support our opinion. But your point, and I agree with it, is that at the 4 position Mirotic would give a big boost to our offense. However, I don't expect him to be this good nor that his role will change dramatically here. Maybe he will get to play about 30 minutes or a bit more but that will depend on our roster make up next year.

On the other hand, more 3point attempts is not always good, particularly when you are not an elite shooter. That was one of the knocks on Mirotic's game: he would stand around the 3pt line and pump fake like crazy, resulting in bad shots. This year he is not hesitating, he is getting to the FT more and spending more time around the basket. I think those are real improvements but I expect the 46% from 3 to go down. Again, 38 or 39% would still be very very good.

If they are not trying to tank then Favors is a great fit next to Markkanen and they would be interested in him. But, they are tanking right now to get a good pick.
