Yeah, I know you're not convinced. And you've made up your mind so no one is going to convince you. But who would the Jazz miss out on if they "waste" this pick on Biyombo? And is that much of a loss to not gamble on the potential this guy has? It's not like there are guys with extraordinarily high ceilings at pick 12.

He speaks 4 languages fluently and is the captain of the team defense whenever he plays. He's known for directing his teams defensive rotations (whether in practice or the game of the NHS, or his ACB team in Spain, or anything previous to that) and strategy.

You're not wrong for being skeptical. But please don't compare him to a lazy dope that hasn't accomplished anything at any level and cruises by with his sheer size.

You know, there's a good number of Biyombo's Spain games on youtube and I watched a couple. The comparison that strikes me isn't Wallace so much as KG. Like KG, he's a head up defender always tracking the ball with very good help instincts. He's got that QB quality, not just focused on his man. The only real negative I saw was he had a tendency to switch on driving guards on a few pick and rolls when he should have stayed home on his man, but that's just exuberance to guard the ball. Another nice thing is he can definitely guard out on the perimeter. Not much posting up in the games I saw so I couldn't get a read how he does in that. But he's got all the qualities you look for in an interior defender.

The thing is I don't mind taking Biyombo 12th in this draft because I trust KOC and believe he knows his basketball stuff better than this whole board combined. As the matter of fact I will be happy with anyone at 12. I'm just puzzled with the fact that Fes haters who bash him for lack of offensive game vouching for even worse guy in this aspect. That's it.

Exactly my point. Why commit another 1st round guaranteed contract to someone who may or may not help us. Trade the pick.

Fes speaks 3 languages fluently btw. I hope you are right though in your judgement. I'm just probably can't overcome frustration with Fes wasting his potential.

2 years guaranteed at a total of only $3.6mil ($1.8mil per) is extremely cheap for a player who may end up being an impact player. Having two additional unguaranteed years plus the option to match any offer subsequent to those additional two years is very valuable. Trading the pick for an overpriced veteran who will only help the Jazz ascend to treadmill team status would be a waste. Lottery picks in any draft are extremely valuable assets. Getting good value trading the 12th pick is very difficult (unless you trade for future picks, which you seem to be against, no?).
 
This goes back to the identity of the team that we have been talking about. Picking Biyombo at 12 should mean that we take the grinding out, hard-nose defense style of play, which I personally prefer (I enjoy watching the ECF more than the WCF this year even they are not scoring many points). I think he can already defend well in the NBA (especially help defense) but I think the downside is that he will probably be a fouling machine the first year because of the way refs pick on rookies.
 
Some numbers that help Fredette out when compared to the consensus #1:

Jimmer is an inch shorter and weighs five more pounds with 2.5 percent less body fat. I calculate that as about 10 more pounds of muscle on him. Not bad at all.
