Utah Trade Deadline Discussion

Sigh. Another "rumored trade" which is not a rumor but just something a writer suggested.

I wish we had a thread for just legit rumors, not fanboys and wannabes just posting their **** and then it getting picked up by on-line sports rags and passed off as true. No more Fake News!

That would be nice but those days are gone. There is no such thing as a valid report anymore unless it's a "done deal." All it takes is a feeling, a rumor, a fart in the wind, and it becomes a report. I try not to base any trade idea on a fan boy article (JNotes, etc.), but it becomes difficult. Usually, I base a trade on a source from a writer who is quoting an inside source, the coach, GM, etc. But all of that is subjective too.

When I was in high school there were a couple times I'd fax KFAN (back when very few people had fax machines) anonymous rumors and they talked about them on air. Was kind of funny. Obviously having a fax machine back then gave some credibility, apparently, even if anonymous.

That's hilarious.

Dont want Avery Bradley hanging out with DM. Would much rather acquire Fournier, who will be cheaper long term, and fits better when considering things holistically.

I'm just ready for the trade deadline to get here. It feels like we have been discussing different trade scenarios for much longer than we actually have been.

The Jazz's 1st rounder is off-limits for Mirotic. So, I do, and the Jazz do too. Trading 1sts for anything but higher picks or stars should be against the rules for this organization after Hill and Rubio.
He's talking about Cleveland's first rounder.

Oh whoops.

Well... IDK, I think it's pretty good. I think Favors for Gortat and a 1st makes a lot of sense too, and the pick is probably a bit better too.

I also do not understand the urgency to trade Burks, and I think Hood could get more return than this.

Also, Bradley is not worth anywhere close to that much. And I don't care about Stanley Johnson.

The Jazz pick is not involved in that trade.

But to answer LoPo the Cavs say no, they are not trading away a young promising player, a sharp shooting stretch 4 that does help sometimes, and a 1st for Bradley who is pretty redundant for them.

I also think the Jazz might say no to giving up that much for that return. Favors is about equal for Mirotic. I am not sure Hood and Burks is only worth Stanley and Osman.

Interesting. Of all the teams involved, I could see us saying no first. We might want more for Hood. We could always replace Burks with Joe which might make Detroit like the trade more...

I think the Cavs jump on that trade immediately. Avery Bradley is the perfect solution to so many of their defensive issues. The only reason the Cavs say no is if IT knows something about Bradley the public doesn't. Other than that, he's a perfect fit for the Cavs.

I think they would prefer to play Wade and JR at SG and then they have an elite shooter to bring in with Korver. They also have Shumpert who will be back before the playoffs.

But mostly that is a huge over pay for a player not playing very well this season, that is a decent defender but undersized. If they get a player on the Wing I think they want someone that can play both positions.

If they do actually want Bradley for some reason I think they can just trade directly with Detroit and get him for less. They could do Frye and the 1st or Osman for him, not both. Or some other trade combo. But I think they are looking for a bigger move or would prefer Hill and many other attainable options that help them more.

But thats just my guess.

Sure Avery Bradley isn't having a good year, but he did last year and may be a nice fit alongside Mitchell. I think the Jazz would have to look long and hard at any deal involving Avery Bradley and Stanley Johnson.

Edit* Nevermind this isn't happening. I forgot about his sexual assault deal. There's 0 chance the Jazz bring him in.

Windhorst did Alex Kennedy's podcast and he said he doesnt think any first round picks are available. Said he thinks most teams are just holding out right now hoping to get a first, but doesnt see them being traded unless stars are moved.

Here's my Niko offer:

Top 20 protected pick this year (guaranteed not to get conveyed), which converts to two second rounders (from Washington and San Antonio) when the first rounder is not conveyed.

They get their (symbolic) first rounder to not look like completes fools.

If this is truly the case, I'm wondering whether recently drafted players with moderate potential but not yet much production come into play more (of the Tony Bradley, Cedi Osman, and any number of other players type). Or maybe it just means very few trades will happen (and none that turn out very exciting for the fans of the teams involved).
