What's new

Official Rubio Support thread

I still like Ricky. By the end of his contract I figure we'll have a good idea of what we have with Dante.

I'm more worried about the glaring holes that Hood and Favors will likely leave upon their departures. I wonder how those get filled. I wonder if we end up snagging Mirotic, and how much his bad defence cripples us.
Hopefully the Jazz use Hood to replace Hood. Get a sweet shooting backup 2-guard. I still think Reggie Bullock is a really good fit if Detroit really wants Hood.

I would love to see him play at this level the rest of the season and next year. I am not sure he will and his lack of shooting will still hurt us, unless he magically learns to shoot. Maybe he does enough other stuff well enough to get away with poor shooting as well.

But this is more what I was hoping when the trade was announced.

I love Rubios effort, it is almost always great. He wants to win really bad. For his sake and ours I hope he gets a lot of wins.

The whole thing that the anti-Rubio crowd failed to realize, it was never beneficial to give up on Rubio.

My message to them:

He is been amazing lately. It seems he is turning the corner. I'm wondering what he could do with more space, a strecht 4

Sell while his value is high

No way! Remember when we all wanted to trade Burks and then he turned the corner and was soo good. Glad we didnt sell high on him right?

Truthfully if we get a good offer for Rubio or anyone not named Mitchell or Gobert we should pull the trigger. But we dont need to dump Rubio for scraps.

I was very much on board when he was first traded here, and then perplexed by his careless handles, his abysmal passing, and his consistently negative impact on a nightly basis. I still believe in him very much. The entirety of his career in Minnesota ended in a + where +- is concerned (this was/still is astonishing when you realize the wolves in his six years were 173-303) and so we must believe that we've seen his worst. Quin didn't want anyone judging the Jazz until after January, and maybe they'll be ok....as long as they trade Favors, cuz Rudy and Favors can't work.

Burks was sooo good .. and then he went back to being sooo bad again .. For sure i'm happy to keep Ricky i just don't know if this is real or just a good handful of games. If he can play like this all the time we'll win a crapload of games.

I'm not sure how long Rubio will be on the Jazz. He was great to start the year, deserved to hear his critics for the meat of this injury-filled season, but has recently shown signs of expanding his game and playing with a Quin-style of force. Without a doubt.

This thread is for Rubio fans.

But I'm sure we'll hear a ton from some internet broughs who talked about loyalty all summer but now are filled with boilerplate trash for one of our players.

Rubio can find a role on this team and help. Get him a little more space, and he's ready to take another step in this system.
NAOS is a whistledick but I agree, I like Rubio.

Love Rubio. I am glad he is picking things up. I am sure an offseason with Jazz will help him more.

Absolutely great game from Ricky. Still, it's pretty hypocritical when somebody brings up sample size as evidence that we shouldn't jump to the conclusion Rubio can't work with how this offense and roster is constructed. Rubio has had what, a handful of positive games?

I was completely on board for the trade, stayed on Ricky island for a good chunk of the season, but I have a hard time believing he's a good option for us, and it goes much further than how bad we are when he plays with our starters (which has been glaring). I would never just drop Ricky, especially since I think our time to strike is in 2019 and not 2018.

Like just those two in the deal. Seems really light for us if so.

I actually think it could be Kennard straight up or with Galloway.

I think we could do better for Hood.

I like Rubio and hope he can be successful here. That being said it’s going to take some more convincing to get me fully on board. He’s still had more bad games than good games but has had a streak of 5 of the last 6. A few more games and I’ll be on the Rubio train, but it’s still to early IMO to say it’s figured out.
