What's new

Nikola Mirotic

Aaron Gordon's streak is 40 games and he's 22 and he's starting and playing against starters unlike Mirotic. Mirotic is 27 in 1 week. It's much more reasonable to expect big jumps from players in their early 20s than of ones in their mid-late 20s. That's why I would say I'm more likely to buy into Gordon's improvement.

And, yes, I still would like to see Gordon over more extended period of time before I pronounce him the next big thing.

They are also very different type of prospect, which was reflected by where they were drafted.

uh you might want to check out Gordon's month by month. His shooting streak ain't anywhere near 40 games, he was unrealistically hot for maybe 3-4 weeks to begin the year and has tailed off dramatically each month.

That’s true, but I’d like to see how he can do with better coaching. Jazz coaching staff is really good at developing young players. I think he’d thrive tbh. Maybe not a perfect fit, but he could be special if he improves like he has the past two seasons.

mebbe but do you want to give him 20 mil ??

Let's say we had acquired Mitotic, and that he played well for 1.5 years before heading into free agency. So, right as he's turning 28.5 years old he signs a big contract that commits the team to him, Rudy, and then Mitchell.

I just don't think that the timing and talent synchs up very well... especially if you're giving a first.

Or let's just say I'm not confident that's the best way to maximize Rudy's prime. Let's get a playmaker at the 4, pls

So giving a four year deal to a guy in his prime who, despite being a lot more athletic than given credit for, has a game that will age well, is a bad idea? Ok. Wake me up when we’ve got the opportunity to swing for a young Durant.

Jazz are clearing a max slot for LBJ. The old king can play alongside the young king. What else do you think LeBron was whispering to Donovan? Also, LeBron is just tired of losing in Utah.

Also, it seems even his skeptics seem to think that in our system he’d at least be a Memo or more, which is interesting they feel that way because the idea that people wouldn’t give up a middling first round pick for Memo is ****ing ridiculous.

You keep cruising by the costs, and the cap considerations. It's fun.

Alright. Let’s talk cost, then. What do you see him getting in 2019 and for how long? Being able to have a hard look at a guy in our system for 1.5 years gives us a good evaluation. Is he going to play his way into a $80/4 year deal that’s too much?

Yeah, the young Durant who played PF

:eyeroll:

I think the evidence suggests that I would feel just about the same level of conflict at the idea of paying Niko $20/yr as I am right now when I think about paying Hood the same amount.
