Utah Trade Deadline Discussion

Portland fan on RealGM proposed Vonleh and 1st(protected) for Hood with an option for Vonleh, Harkless and 1st for Hood and JJ. Would you do that one?

No. You take on too long of a contract for Harkless (3 more years) and bail out Portland from the cap pergetory they are currently in.

I like Harkless as a player though. I think I’d be in on that deal.

Switch JoeJ with Burks and I would do the Harkless deal.

They wouldn’t do that though. Harkless is better than Burks. Harkless is a 5M a year player making 10M... not a huge negative. AB is basically like a minimum player honestly... I just don’t think he has enough B.B. IQ to hang in a league that is getting more intelligent.

I'm not as big on Harkless since O'Neale has emerged and I also like how Jerekbo fits in the lockerroom. If we hang on to Favors the rest of the year, Harkless is unnecessary especially at his cost.

(A) Portland fan on RealGM proposed Vonleh and 1st(protected) for Hood with an (B) option for Vonleh, Harkless and 1st for Hood and JJ. Would you do that one?

(C) A Boston fan proposed Larkin/Nader/BOS 1st for Hood. Would you do that?

(D) What if it was the LAC 1st(which is lottery protected)?

It's very possible the LAC pick turns into 2 seconds but if it doesn't it will be much higher than Boston's pick...

(E) Which one do you value higher - BOS or LAC pick?

(A) Do it now
(B) Definitely do it... especially if JJ wants to play there. I'm concerned about his happiness and the precedent we're trying to set with FAs of his caliber
(C) Lukewarm at best... and whom are we cutting to make room for that additional player? I don't see how Larkin makes our team.
(D) Probably worth the gamble, but I'd want a shot at their 2019 1st rounder if the pick didn't convey this year.
(E) LAC, under the conditions I mentioned above.

What do yall think about Tobias Harris's availability and what it would cost to get him?

If LAC is tearing it down, would they be interested in a swap that included Favors and some filler?

I would be in if it’s a Favs and second rounder type deal.

I don’t think they’d do it but I’d make a phone call for sure. I think they are kind of trying to be competitive still.

I would be nervous getting on the phone with West... you start by callin on Harris and when you get off the phone you’ve agreed to take Gallinari and give a pick.

I somewhat agree but Harkless and Jerebko can play exclusively at the 4 and still leave time for Royce at the wing. I also think we may use our non-guaranteed guys in trades this offseason.

Harkless isn’t great salary but at least he’s useable unlike the centers that are dead salary.

My favorite hypothetical trade right now is Hood and Burks for Booker, Korkmaz, and some kind of draft considerations. Philly has the following picks:

Their 2018 1st
That complicated Lakers pick (2018 or 2019)
4 2018 2nd rounders
3 2019 2nd rounders
3 2020 2nd rounders
2 2021 2nd rounders

Gonna have to sub AB out of you want a pick in the deal. Change it to JJ or Favs. Gonna hav to take Bayless if we want their first I think.

1. I keep hearing the Cavs absolutely won't trade the Brooklyn draft pick. That's not true. I've heard from top league sources the Cavs will do it -- but not for a short-term answer such as DeAndre Jordan. That's because Jordan can become a free agent at the end of the season.

2. The Cavs would trade the pick for a younger player who is under team control for a few years. But they are willing to deal their own first-round pick in 2018 for the right short-term fix.

I wonder how the little winning streak of 4 in a row impacts the Jazz's plans. It could send a bad message to the team if they trade away players who have been helping them win.

I wish there was a deal for Hood or Joe Johnson.
