Buying a new laundry detergent

I have a LONG list of detergents I'm considering. They run the gamut from basic to relatively exotic and from traditional non-scented to impractical erotic-sounding kind.

Obviously this is early in the process.

Let me know if you have any experience with any of these detergents that would be relevant to any purchasing decision. Thanks in advance for any info.

New Ultra Tide HE Plus Bleach Powder Detergent

Gain-Apple Mango Tango

All- Relaxing Lavender

Cheer-Original

Surf Twilight (go team Jacob) Sensations- Jasmine and Black Gardenia

Oxiclean

Arm & Hammer

Also, let me know if I'm totally missing the boat on some sweet detergent I should be trying out.

I have been using Gain-Island Fresh but a neighbor needed what I had left and so I thought I would take the opportunity to try something new.

Ask your washing machine what kind it likes. Then buy that kind. Then use that kind in your washing machine. When you are washing clothing. Or other soiled linen- and/or textile-based items. Possibly tennis shoes and baseball caps if you put them in the little baseball cap-shaped plastic cage so they do not lose their shape. The caps, that is, not the shoes. Unless you have a little shoe-shaped plastic cage to protect the shoes. Then you could possibly use it to wash shoes.

My washing machine put up a bit of a fuss with the Gain-Island Fresh but it is an old machine and I'm really not certain whether it just didn't like the foreign scent or if it didn't like the Gain brand. All I know is that it is addicted to the powder detergent and I have to keep it happy.

Well, I've had nothing but great success with Tide products. I've used Tide powder, Tide Free liquid, Tide He, Tide He bleach alternative, not one of them left grass stains on the knees of my favorite jeans. One time I had a HUGE grass stain on my butt because my best friend pushed me down a hill at school right after they cut the grass. I figured my pants were done, but they were my favorite pair of jeans. So, I hid them from my mom and wore them, grass stain and all, for over a month. Well, finally my mom found out. All she did was pre-soak the jeans in a little tide before running them through the wash and when they were finished I couldn't even tell there was ever a grass stain on them. My sister had a different problem that I won't get into here, but needless to say Tide is good on all sorts of stains. You just can't ever go wrong with a Tide product.

EDIT: Just want to say that Tide doesn't use meaningless additives just to make something smell nice or so they can say they're "spring fresh" on the lable. everything in Tide is there to get your clothes clean. If I was using a brand that used fake ingredients that didn't actually get my clothes any cleaner I'd be embarassed.

This thread made me LOL. LOL in caps 'cause I really did LAUGH OUT LOUD. It's 5 AM and I haven't slept. Everything is furny.

I tried a ton of samples today. Eliminated most of the "original" options and was able to talk myself into buying an erotic sounding detergent. The other day I noticed a hot bald guy pulling one of my most erotic options (twilight sensations) off the shelf. When I asked him about his choice he gently fondled the box and explained how he simply like the smell of it and the way it make his clothes feel. For some odd reason this encounter really influenced my decision.

Make your own. Just get a 5 gallon bucket, a soap block thing, and the other ingredients you are supposed to use.
Put them together, and blam-o, you have 5 gallons of laundry detergent for waaaaaaaay less money than if you buy it.
Oh, but you have to stir it or something before you use it because it kindof clumps together.

I would give you the instructions, but that would entail getting on the internet, and typing words and stuff, and I dont want to do that.

Anyways, good chatting with you. Have a very nice day.

Just mix equal parts bleach and ammonia. Since they both have excellent cleaning properties together they would be fantastic. Make sure to mix it in a small closed room with no ventilation, such as a basement or cellar as you do not want to let all the cleaning wonder float away.

Just a PSA for any kids or idiots who might be reading along, if you actually did this you might end up dead. I mean, it's funny and all telling Millsapa to kill herself, but we wouldn't want any innocent people to get hurt as a result, right?

Can we get back to you on that one?
