I know many people will hate me but i actually want AK47 to stay. He will probably be willing to stay in utah with a mid level exception , and lets say we didnt draft any SF, we will really need him

I wonder how many people want him to stay or not for next year?

the first no came quicker than my yes, i cant imagine the outcome of this poll

I don't want AK back even at a reasonable salary. Bottom line is you can't depend on the guy to be on the floor - and it's hard to build and sustain success when you have a starter/6th-man who's that unreliable.

i agree about the unreliability part (but its about health not his game), when he is healthy he plays good , so why not bring him in a 5-6 per yr deal, he is worth it.

Not no but HELL NO.

The future is now. Lets stop resigning these old tires that don't even work anymore.

Nothing good comes from resigning AK. Nothing. We waste money on a guy who has sucked our franchise for too long. It's just not right for the Jazz to continue giving this guy welfare.
His cancerous lazy *** soft attitudes continue. We need less of that and more Millsap, Hayward, and whoever we draft that's a hard worker IMO.
We need a new "franchise" player. Lets turn the page and move on. Even though we all know AK isn't the franchise, it's time for both sides to part and move on.
We resign AK, we're still no better off than if we didn't draft a SF since AK will shortly injure himself.
Lets rebuild. Lets allow the young players like Millsap, Hayward, etc develop and become leaders. AK's had his chance, now let others.
AK homers raid this board and are almost as annoying as Sloanfield (I mean, Boozer homers).
Masha hasn't slept with me. And AK hasn't used his pass. So yeah, kinda mad.

Finally, his hair sucks. His attempt to grow Korver like hair was lame. Bring back the spikes or mohawk or get the hell out of America.

I agree with this. AK's head just doesn't seem to be in it anymore. He doesn't have that same fire he used to have. I think we'd be better served bringing along younger players then merely use a band-aid. We're at that point where we either need to decide to rebuild or go for a title. The indecisive method hasn't work for us so far. We need new blood on this team that has something to prove.

but when he is healthy he plays good
That's been the Kirilenko mantra for the past 7 years. I've liked AK, appreciated his game, and have even defended the FO for giving him that $86 million extension because it didn't seem as ludicrous in 2004 as it does now looking back in hindsight. When he was good, he could impact games in ways no one else could, and he was still a hungry player. But it's 2011 and I'm sick of AK. It's time to move on.

And also, he's already 30. After the thread about how Harris' game will be hurt as he ages - AK's game has already begun to change and I don't see it getting any better 2-3 years from now.

And his tatoo is ugly.

get him a 3 year contract, between 15 and 18 millions. but he should resign for the minimum if he is a man, he stole so much money from the jazz organization, it's time to give at least little money back by signing for the minimum.

Ask the team that drafts Kanter to do that. AK is going to be like Boozer - a good riddance.

i still think that he could help. he should sign for the minimum if he was a man, but i think his real value is between 5 - 7 millions / year. it's time to pay back some money ak, resign with us for the minimum :)

I'd be fine for 3-4 mil per, but I'm sure his market value is higher than that so I voted just simply a "no"

We really need all the help we can on defense. He's getting older but he still is an effective defender. Tony Allen is a terrible offensive player, but they still succeed when he is on the floor because his defense. No AK can't lock it down like Allen, but AK is also a better offensive player. But then again, can he stay healthy? Ah I'm talking myself in and out of it, I just don't know. Draft Singleton!

And seriously if Utah drafted Knight and Singleton, while resigning AK for 3-4 yrs 18-24 million. That seriously puts Utah in a great spot, talent wise! And they would then have a deep bench with a defensive stopper.

Harris Knight
Hayward Miles
AK Singleton
Favors Millsap
Jefferson OKur

Bell, Evans and a resigned Fez. Thats a pretty deep team, that would give anybody trouble!! And I like it to because Harris tutors Knight, Ak tutors Singleton. Just enough Vets with a ton of Youth!

i might be the only one but i don't want our future to be build around harris and jefferson. they get over 20 millions together / year.

urent the only one in this case
they are overpaid and they are just fake allstars which cant carry any team to a very good level, they can be stars in a playoff team at best

1) Why do the Jazz want to deal with this headache anymore than it has already had to?
2) What is AK going to bring to a team as the team begins to bring in a lot of young players that need minutes and he's moving past 30?
3) What positive impact does AK bring to a locker-room? He doesn't have a passion for the game and doesn't show a work-ethic for it either. If I'm bringing in veterans to a rebuilding team (that's what this is), I'm bringing them in to act as a mentor on how to play the game and what to do off the court. Hoisting up wild shots with half the shot clock left when you can't shoot doesn't come to mind as something I want to impart. Or disappearing for weeks at a time. Or planning vacations during the playoffs that either conflict with a TBA schedule, or you have to skip practice to figure out your visa. Or having a WoW character whose impact more resembles how you USED to impact your profession and on a dubious timescale in that regard, and a idiotic back-piece to match. Or generally shrinking when any kind of adversity presents itself.

Maybe you stick with AK if the team hadn't been blown up, but it's beyond incomprehensible given the context now. If we're bringing in vets for the VET MINIMUM, I'd rather see Price and Collins brought back before AK. BY FAR. At least they can wave towels and show enthusiasm for their team when they don't get their way and can make your practices better.

So you can probably guess my answer. Even if he played for free.

i dont think ak is as bad as u exaggrate. Well he may not be the most hardworking guy ever but i have seen him very dedicated when he carried russia to european championship. After deron and boozer left, and with the guilty feeling of having his overloaded contract compensated by utah for yrs, he may feel he owes us something and play more dedicated. Of course this is a hypothesis, but i dont argue his talents with anyone. I believe young kids can learn something from ak, and i dont really like to see all vets return but i think AK would worth, at least i hope so
