What's new

I hope you are ready...

Haha, I've been running hot the last two games but I'll cool off and probably stay cold for a while.

I think a few peoples' take from the last game was that I was doing stupid things and getting lucky, but I felt super locked in that game and made some really spot on reads that ended up being right.

Going into Gustavo's poker game I hadn't played a live game since the last one I hosted at my house after the Summer Poker League ended, so I had some rust to shake off.

Same with me (I hadn't played since summer league). As for your luck, well, you often end up in the money. I think you're good. I think I have a sense of who, among the regulars, are most easy to manipulate. You're not on that list.

I think that if you'd played half the hands I've played you'd be a better player than I am. I would put money that I've played more hands of live poker than any two other players in our current game combined. That's really my biggest advantage.

It is different because the bets you make each played hand is the core of poker strategy.

Exactly. The key being that it is the CORE of poker strategy.

@One Brow

Tell me about the chess match that lasts for years. How does that work? I think you were straight up talking out of your *** on that. I don't think you really understood or considered the meaning of what i was saying about a poker game lasting for years (which has absolutely happened). If You want to have a conversation about this I want to know that you understand the dynamics of traditional cash game poker. That is the most common type of poker played in casinos, and is now, since the tournament craze from 2003-2010 has died down, also the most common type of home game. Tournament poker, which I love, is somewhat of an anomaly. Most hard core poker players have a certain degree of contempt for tournament poker. When it was full of fish they embraced it, now that things have changed they are mostly back to cash games.

The fact that most poker games played are called "cash games" should be a good indication of the the role money plays in poker. Hot tip, it is bigger than the role money plays in bridge, chess, backgammon (which might have a huge for-money community) or any other game you mentioned.

You think I don't have a breadth of experience playing games? Seriously, GFYS. My original name, "Gameface" is partially because I enjoy all sorts of games. I'm not particularly good at chess, but I'll play chess with anyone, anytime. I'll play gin, I'll play bridge, I'll play Spades (I'm a pretty respectable spades player), Hearts, Risk (also pretty above average here), and Monopoly, which all anyone has to say is that they want to play monopoly for a little money and I'll host the **** out of that. Not to mention that I'm fairly exceptional at a few online games.

I'm a game player. I'm not unicum in general, but I like games.

Btw, I only asked if guns were allowed to joke about those one dudes who showed up to your place to play poker with their six shooters on their side. Classy and respectful dudes they were, eh?

It was unusual, especially the way they handled questions about it. I think they were certainly trying to make a statement/point but I don't think the message went through.

Anyway, weapons are not allowed at the table. Funny having to make a rule about that. But as I've mentioned, I don't strip search or pat down my guests.

Open carry at my tables will not happen again.

JG, If I’m able to attend I likely won’t play either. Just enjoy the atmosphere and imbibe and some of GF’s barley sodas.
I plan to make the game affordable and social enough to encourage people to play. I want an inclusive event. I want ANY jazzfanz.com member to feel comfortable coming to play or to show up to hang out.

This will hopefully be a jazzfanz.com event where we can all get together. there was a good chunk of this season none of us would had guessed the Jazz would be going to the playoffs. It now seems like playoffs are likely. Let us celebrate that!

I’m really excited for this. Hopefully lots of people will show up and hopefully I can make it. I work all the time, except when on vacation, and I’m going camping near the end of April too. I will go if at all possible though, no doubt.
