Rockets Series Predictions/Analysis?

Jazz steal game 1. Rubio's injury turns into a blessing in disguise. Our wings stifle the perimeter. Rudy and Favors Stifle the paint.

Rockets kill us in game 2 becaue Rubio comes back and it throws us off.

Jazz win game 3 in a blowout with Rubio because Snyder adjusts and only plays him 26 minutes realizing our wings give us the best chance, and its the game 3 bump.

Rockets win game 4 in a close one. The refs gift it to the Rockets. Harden and Paul go to the line a ton because they realize they cant keep jacking threes.

Rockets win game 5 in a blowout. Jazz look horrible. Season looks lost.

Jazz win game 6 in a close one. Donavan has his best game ever. 45 points. Matching his jersey number. With the game winner.

Jazz win game 7. In a close one. All around performances from everyone.

Rockets in 6, but.....

I think Utah gives them everything they can handle. If Rubio was healthy, I think this is a 7 game series where anything could happen. If Utah can somehow scratch their way to split the first 4 games and Ricky returns, look out.

Houston and their idiot fan base are easily the easiest bunch to dislike in the entire league and they’re currently laughing at us, thinking that we’re a joke of a speed bump. I hope my prediction is wrong and win or lose, I know the Jazz are gonna rattle these chumps.

I feel similarly. That wouldn't be a terrible outcome, although I'd rather Jazz win. But I would be satisfied with a hard fought series. There's always next year, and this one has been a great success.

But let's win, because **** Houston.

Even if Ricky misses the series completely. Im sticking with the prediction. In fact its more likely to happen that way without him.

And thus has the Oracle of Delphi spoken.

Jazz in 6. Lose game 1, eek out a narrow in in game 2, two close wins at home, then lose soundly in Houston in game 5, win on down-to-the-wire game at home like against OKC in game 6.

Im just trying to find a reason why the Rubio injury is ok for us. I dont like it, but playing taller players may just benefit us more. Its just a wild guess. It may turn out to be disastrous he is gone though.

I hear ya. I think to say that's reaching is an understatement, personally. We want our best players in the series. He's one of our best. Without him, the notion of having to play Exum, and to a lesser degree, Royce, major minutes, is disconcerting.

The Jazz have been exceeding expectations all year long. Its has been a crazy year. I dont know why anyone would want to choose not to believe now.

I think that the series goes 6 or 7 games. Either team could win it. Houston will probably be able to cause some mismatch problems with their small ball at times. But the Jazz will probably be able to cause mismatch problems with our size advantage at times too. The series is going to be a fight. I don't see either team easily winning this series. If the Jazz can control the tempo at a pace we want and play the defense we've played all year then we have a solid chance.

The Jae Crowder trade was so smart. A series like this where we face teams like GS or Houston who can kill you with small ball is exactly the situation where we needed a guy like Crowder off of our bench. Small ball lineups can't feast as much by pulling Rudy and Favs away from the basket to guard the perimeter. Because we can play Jae at 4 next to Rudy or Favs at 5.

Donovan continues to elevate his game as he continues his coming out party as a superstar, and Rudy continues to reck havoc and reap souls, and Ingles keeps ringing that bell.

Jazz in 5!!!! Idiots!!!

Houston fans, chris paul, harden, and Dantoni are annoying. Plus houston tag along players act like big shots.

Jazz will miss Rubio and Thabo. The game will get smaller with favors and gobert playing fewer minutes and making less of an impact.

My draft man crush on Capela will be reignited.

Houston in 4.

Dante sits, and forces his way out of Utah.

  • After a hard-fought Game 6, the Jazz have less than 40 hours to rest, prepare, and travel to Houston
  • Donovan Mitchell was totally gassed after Game 6
  • Ricky Rubio is unlikely to play game 1 or game 2
  • Houston swept the season series against the Jazz
  • Media see the Jazz as no more than a speed bump for Houston's march to the GSW conference finals.

Therefore, the Jazz will win in 6.

This series is gravy. Mitchell is a superstar and will be even better next year. We have turned to a new page in franchise history, and started out on an incredible note. Jazz have really set themselves up for long term success. This season will benefit us for years to come. Couldn't have asked for a better start to mitchell's career, and it will pay dividends. He will be unstoppable next season. He already is.

If we can play well in it and make it competitive that will be extremely impressive. Houston is a very good team and their defense is going to give us fits. OKC's poor defensive schemes and collapses (and headhunting Melo) is what allowed us to control most of those games, we won't have that in Houston.

My big fear is that the jazz will play great defense, not be able to score, and then Houston will inevitably go on a run at some point and we won't have an answer. Worst case scenario is these games are competitive the first half and then the Rockets cook us in the second and we roll over. Would not be surprised if that happens tomorrow. Rockets are rested, mitchell, ingles, and gobert will likely be gassed in the second half--especially with no Rubio. Really hard to figure out what to do without Rubio.

Can't afford Exum stretches in this series. Really can't afford mistakes. With no rubio, I don't know what we do. I mean I do--Ingles runs the offense, Mitchell touches the ball every time. This might actually work really well when the starters are on the floor. But Rubio not playing takes away any depth. We were, at most, seven deep with Rubio. Now we are six--Mitchell, Ingles, Gobert, Favors, Crowder, and Royce. Royce and Crowder HAVE to shoot well for us to compete. We will need someone out of those six to step up--Burks, Neto, Jerebko, Exum. I don't know who it is going to be. Burks seems like the best candidate.

Favors and Gobert have to be dominate defensively and offensively. That seems like the key. Our front court size is the one area where we have an advantage. If the jazz can get it going inside we have a chance. If not we don't. gobert and favs can't get in foul trouble--obviously.

Going to be fun!
