Utah Trades
Okur
Millsap
Bell
#12 pick

Toronto trades:
Andrea Bargnani

Pistons trade:
Rip Hamilton
#8 pick

Utah gets:
Hamilton
Bargnani
Pistons' #8

Toronto gets:
Utah's #12
Choice of Okur/ Millsap

Detroit gets:
Bell
Either Okur/ Millsap

Utah becomes a very deep team with a lot of choices for starting unit. Hamilton, Hayward, Miles at the 2 or 3. Bargnani, Favors, or Jefferson at C/PF. Plus, there is value at the #8. The inside out of Bargnani-Jefferson would be huge. They combine to be Utah's answer to Dirk. No one is better than Hamilton on coming off the curl and he can mentor Hayward. This makes Utah a top 5 team in the West again.

With new owners coming, Detroit saves money and gets out of Rip situation. They save more with Okur because of his expiring contract or insurance if he doesn't play again, but they may want more of a healthy player in Millsap.

Toronto gets out of contract with Bargnani and can build around Derozan and Ed Davis. Plus they get an additional lottery pick. With Millsap they get a solid player, although he plays same position as Davis and Amir Johnson. So, they may want Okur expiring contract and rebuild with picks and cap space.

Are you a Raptors fan? Holy **** that's terrible for the Jazz...The Jazz dump the best player (Millsap), an expiring contract (Memo) for two highly overpaid and inefficient players with longterm contracts just to move up 4 spots in a ****** draft? What the hell for?

Toronto trades Andrea "absolute ****ing garbage" Bargnani for Millsap AND the #12? Raptors fans would be dancing in the streets.

This trade is terrible. Although I do think GVC is exaggerating how bad Bargnani is. While I do think Sap is better, they are actually pretty similar players. Both have a major flaw (Millsap's size and Andrea's defense), they are similar in age (26 and 25), and both will probably never be a starter on a championship caliber team.

For what it's worth, I don't think Toronto would trade Bargs for Sap straight up. Bargnani, for all of his flaws, still has a chance to significantly improve because of his size and skillset. I think most would agree that Millsap has peaked.

They are not similar players. Bargnani is a terrible man and help defender, an inefficient offensive option and an absolutely horrendous rebounder. Millsap is better than Bargnani at everything. Read that again: Millsap is better than Bargnani at everything.

And, fwiw, both Bargnani and Millsap were born in the same damn year. Millsap has shown an ability to improve something each year he's been in the league; Bargnani is virtually the same player today as he was as a rookie. There is no reason to believe that Bargnani will suddenly make a big jump while Millsap stagnates. The Raps would do that deal without thinking.

If we get Rip over Bell how can you not feel good (even with his bad contract)?

With the 8th pick the Jazz select Bismack.

Kanter, and Bismack would be a nice upgrade of the bigs. Memo and Sap are nice, but were they ever the answer?
Don't want to lose Sap, but he hasn't shown he can rebound or defend other good 4s. As much as I like Sap it seems he's too good to be a bench player, and not good enough to be a starter on an elite team. He can score, he's a hard worker, great guy, plays through injury, but
is he untouchable? Certainly not.

Raps you can keep Bargnani. No thanks there.

Someone has to go in a year or two if we get Kanter. Who will it be? It's going to be the two weakest links. We don't need Big Al AND Sap.
We do need a defensive big who can rebound. Bismack may be that guy.

The thought of Bismack, Kanter, Al, and Favors in the trenches makes me fully aroused.

Me too. We could very well see that next year in addition to Millsap. Although I doubt the Jazz would take 2 bigs in this draft even though both of their potential's seem to be very good

I love Sap, but we just need better balance from our bigs. Kanter/Al the offense, Bismack/Favors the defense, nasty jams, and boards.
I could live with Sap going if it brought us Bismack(although he is a risk).

So many incomprehensible things going on in this post.

And we're left with a 2nd year player to do all the shooting for our team. Awesome.

I agree with GVC. This is a terrible trade for the Jazz. Nobody is touching Hamilton. He is not needed on this team especially. Bargs is terrible and would have a difficult time playing at all if we got Kanter and Biyombo to join an already crowded rotation.

So the original trade has us taking on a contract nobody wants(they should and will pay somebody to take that trash)
Has us taking on a big man that won't play enough for us to make an impact.
We move up only 4 spots in a terrible draft (If we are taking on 2 bad contracts we should be moving up to top 4-5 at least without giving up our pick)

Somehow Detroit and Toronto come out screaming for joy with this trade and the Jazz get screwed.

Break it down into the two components:
1. Detroit gives up a lottery pick to dump a contract. That sounds like a fair price. So Okur's expiring + Bell for Hamilton and the #8. I'd consider that part of the deal. Kanter replaces Okur and there are a lot of ways to go at #8 depending on who's still available.
2. Toronto gives us Bargnani for Millsap and the #12? No freakin' way! I'd much rather keep Millsap and pick up Singleton or Fredette, Burks, etc.

I would do the trade if we leave our #12 pick out of it, and get Toronto's unprotected 1st round pick in the 2012 draft (or 2013 if there's a lockout).

While reading this topic, I really started to worry. And then! I realized this is another, (In a Don Knotts voice) " What if you took your money and bought a ----t-t--t-, and after you were done ------- her, you tied a big rope to her ----- and threw her over the edge of a -----? ...... OH thats right, Its just your imagination runnning wild.

i wouldnt trade even millsap by himself for bargnani, but getting rid of raja bell seems goood
anyway its a disastourus trade for utah in general

It definitely makes our team better but salary cap wise it's not a strong move. Andrea Bargnani is a young Okur and could easily move in the 5 and allow us to start Big Al at 4. I just don't like giving up Millsap for Rip and the 8th Pick. If they throw in Austin Daye or Stuckey. I would love this trade.

Im just excited becasue I think theres going to be some huge trades go down in the next 3 weeks. Thats really going to help Utah in the rebuilding stages.
