Yes, that is true.
Unfortunately for the fans' enjoyment, but fortunately for league business, Super Teams or dynasties do bring about far better ratings. The Jeter Yankees, the Jordan Bulls, Mike Tyson when he was "Iron Mike", Tiger Woods when he was winning tournaments by 19 shots...dominance attracts more viewers. That's an undeniable fact. Viewers want to see the big guys display their greatness or viewers want to see the big guys fall -- either way, ratings go up.
So, yes, the Super Teams in the NBA may be bad for competitive series, but the ratings are still strong. The league will do nothing to change things. Sucks for me as a Knick fan because we will never win another championship. We can not compete against the Super Teams (hell, we can not even compete against the lottery teams). And the idea of our team getting better here in NY? There is no such thing as "trust the process" here in NY. We are on our 13th coach in 17 years!
Super Teams are here to stay and that means the Jazz and 27 other teams have no chance of a championship.
The NBA would like nothing more than to have a successful Knicks team. How great it would be to see MSG rocking a competitive team. Your team is stradled by bad ownership, but your day in the sun may be still to come.
