Following Potential 2018 Draftees

It’s moot. Pels are keeping him and will do a Cousins for Jabari S&T.
Even if they re-sign Cousins, I think they keep Mirotic. They can still stay under the tax with a minor move since the trade also included a salary dump (Asik). It may take some time until Cousins is 100%. Plus, Mirotic gives them a great 3-man rotation. The dream of Utah getting Mirotic is gone, unless he comes over as an UFA after next year.

Okay I'm ready to call it. Okobo is officially my dude. I like others in the draft. But in terms of who is likely to be there when we pick at 21 and who I feel has the biggest potential impact on our roster, Okobo is #1. Go get him DL.

Uhh, taking two wings is a smart move.

Please name their wing players from last year.

I honestly can't. Paul Zipser is the only one I can think of and he barely played. I believe they played dudes like Denzel Valentine and Justin Holiday a lot. Holiday is good, but with his lack of strength he is more of a guard. Valentine is awful.

They need a lot of wing help. If they could get Hutch and Mikal then that's a fine draft that addresses two needs.

Nwaba started the last couple months too I think. I believe he is a FA.

If they re-sign Boogie they are pretty much going to pay the tax. If the can get rid of Hills salary then they have a chance. That would cost them at least one 1st... maybe 2.

NOLA will do whatever it takes to keep AD happy this summer. If he wants Boogie back, they will bring Boogie back. I just have a feeling Cousins won't get a max deal because he won't be 100% when he signs that deal this year. I don't think Dallas or the Lakers will be that aggressive for him.

If he gets 25-30m the first year then they are a tax team unless they dump Hill or Moore for nothing. We could see a cousins Porter sign and trade, but I don’t see them offloading enough salary to avoid tax.

I think there is a scenario where boogie walks for nothing and I don’t think it kills their chances with AD. They are the only team that can give him the super duper max and no player has turned that down yet.

I think NOLA is prepared to go into the luxury for one year. They truly believe they are a contender with their AD Boogie big man combo. They could stretch Ajinca to save $4 million towards their number this year.

Then they have to make a decision on Niko the next year... he will get a raise and their salary issues only get more complicated because they haven’t added any cost effective contributors... long term they will have to chose between them... for one year they can make it work... but will pay the tax.

Very true HH. I just feel that they will try to re-sign Boogie and keep Mirotic while Boogie recovers. If they don't think they have a spot for all 3 going forward then they might trade Mirotic at the deadline.

If NOLA traded Mirotic for a draft pick this month without Boogie committed, I think that rubs AD the wrong way. NOLA can't afford to do that.

Heard Jevon Carter has been killing workouts to the point that others don’t want to oppose him.
I really like Carter. Wish we had a higher 2nd round pick. I might even take him at the end of the first. In the scrimmage he was finding open guys, hitting shots and locking down other PGs. He would be a perfect backup PG ready to contribute.

Yeah there’s a lot of guys almost up to 40 that I have a feeling I will like. I’d love to package 52 and two more 2nds to move up to around 36 if possible.

Have you checked out shia? He'd be on my move up for list

If we stay at 21 there is a lot to like about elie, lefty, international(tend to be more mature and enjoy utah serenity - it is serene right ive never been there), french, he's short but makes up for it with DM45-like wingspan. I just want dead eye 3pt shooters, we tend to draft shooting projects like exum instead though.

And since non guaranteed contracts now don't count towards salary matching, dumping players for nothing is extremely difficult.

People don't get how cheap New Orleans is. They don't even have their own medical staff. They share a staff with the New Orleans Saints. They are one of four teams who don't own a G-League franchise.
