2018 Draft Trade Idea

You just want to argue with me. You try on incite. That's why I call you a troll. When you are right or make a good point, I give you credit. I even like your posts. You aren't that guy.

Crowder started:
- All 73 games in 2015/16 for a playoff team
- All 72 games in 2016/17 for the East #1
- 47 of 53 games in Cleveland for a playoff team
- 0 for us because he just got traded here and Favors was entrenched as the starter

And guess who is probably our starting PF for next year? You guessed it - the guy who isn't starter quality.
Just because you are a starter doesnt make you starter quality.

See: Jonathon Simmons

Jae's a solid player, but that's all he is.

If we used #21 to trade up for that star, I would obviously rather that. However, DL picks a proven talent over a draft pick (Hill and Rubio) quite often despite how much we fall in love with prospects.

The Hill and Rubio situations were completely different though. We traded a pick for Hill because the team had been on the verge of making the playoffs for multiple seasons and had just missed. Our PG situation was unclear. Hayward was entering the final year of his contract. DL wanted to make a playoff push and Hill who was a favorite of the FO and coaching staff became available. The Jazz had a pick in a draft class that they didn't particularly like so they were ok trading it. It was a move with the clear intent of solidifying the PG spot and making the playoffs. Rubio was a move for a similar reason. Hill was entering free agency and the Jazz didn't intend to re-sign him, the PG spot was once again an unclear situation. Hayward was a free agent. The Jazz wanted to solidify the spot before free agency so they traded one of two 1st round picks in 2018 for Rubio.

This would be different. This would be the Jazz trading down for a vet wing who doesn't really fit any particular need on the roster.

Love is still a 5-time All-Star who will likely make the HOF at the end of his career. You are really beyond stupid on a lot of this trade stuff and that's putting it kindly. You can't go around calling people a troll who disagree with you.

He and Bosh are only going to the HOF because of LeBron.

I'm bold enough to throw trade ideas out there. I don't see who I'm hurting. You have literally broken down 30 players a year for the last few years on a prospect thread and are very wrong many times. But who cares, it's just conversation. If somebody called you stupid when you thought "such and such" player would be good and he ended up sucking, that only brings down this thread more.

It's quite easy not be a dick. I teach my kids this simple message - be nice to people. It's not that hard. If you don't agree with something you read, give constructive criticism. Don't be ugly. If being ugly really makes you feel better about yourself, get some help. I call you a troll because you go out and attack what I say all the time.

Wut? Love joining Lebron only hurt his HOF chances. His last year w/ Rubio he averaged 26 and 13. He'd probably be 20 and 10 again if he got traded to Utah.

How can you really write that last paragraph and not see how hypocritical/whiny you are being? Your lame *** tries to Donald Trump my post. FOH

Your first response to me in this thread: "Okay @Cy. You are trolling again. Burks is better than Simmons?"

You expect me not to be a dick when you pulled the dick out first? I'm going dick to dick.

I agree - the Hill and Rubio situations were different. They addressed a very clear need in the roster.

However, I would like to say that we found ourselves in a very bad situation last year and this year due to depth. If we don't love a prospect at #21 (which is the very massive point of this thread people are overlooking), then you get a player you know can play. Simmons comes to mind because he also allows us to save a good amount of money too. And Orlando has a pick not too far behind #21.

But I get what you are saying. It is different. And I obviously rate Simmons higher than others on this forum.

Cy - I don't go out and attack you. When you took shots at me earlier, I called you a hypocrite for the RR/JC/#21 for Love thing. You got to let this personal stuff go. When you stop taking shots at me, you won't hear a peep from me. I'm sure there are many people in here tired of this BS.

As for Love, the guy never made the playoffs before LeBron. Stats don't get you to the HOF. Winning while being important to the team does. His stats took a little hit, but his winning and title elevated him. Kevin Love was not on track to be a Hall of Famer before he got traded to Cleveland but he's pretty much sure of getting in the HOF now (even though the guy averaged like 7ppg and 8rpg in 2016 when Cleveland won the title.

Please show me where I personally attacked you in this thread before you called me a troll.

And yes, stats litteraly get you to the HOF.

Pete Maravich didnt do **** in his NBA career other than gets stats, and he is in the HOF.

I'm done arguing with you Cy. In your mind, you do nothing wrong. You say stuff in posts and then delete or alter what you say.

I want our Jazz to win and I'm going to continue to provide fanboy input to a forum for fanboys.

I have never deleted anything I've said in post. The only time I edit is for typos.

Good Morning Jazz fans; the off-season has officially begun. Now that we are lucky enough to have Mitchell mania, every off-season is even more important to get quality to build. After much sifting, I think I found the type of trade DL would pursue. He has targeted a proven vet over draft picks numerous times in recent years. This trade can lead to other initiatives. Please bear with the long post, but if you can, you will see the logic:

Step 1 - Burks, #21, and #52 for Jonathon Simmons and #35 http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yblf6tbm (this trade saves us $5.5 plus the rookie salary for next season). Orlando's new FO wants to rebuild, and #21 is more important than Simmons. We need a vet more than a project. At #35, we draft KBD, Okogie, Carter, best player available.

Step 2 - meet with PG first thing on July 1. If he will consider us, we have to renounce Thabo (7/1 deadline).

Step 3 - Sign Exum to no more than $7 year one. RFA can be signed after 7/1 before the moratorium lifts on 7/6.

Step 4A- if PG is still interested, we renounce Favors, Neto, Jerekbo and Udoh. We also look to trade Bradley (we could try to do this around the draft).

Without Favors' hold, Jerekbo, Udoh, Neto and Bradley, we would have these contracts for 2018/19:
Gobert $23.5
Rubio $15
Ingles $13
Crowder $7.3
Exum $7
Simmons $6
Mitchell $3.1
O'Neale $1.4
TOTAL: $76.3

The most PG can get from a team (not OKC) is around $30. The projected 2018/19 salary cap is around $102. So, we could offer PG around $27. If the cap spikes, like some say might happen, we could give him more.

Step 4B - If PG isn't interested (most likely scenario), we keep Udoh, Jerekbo and Bradley. We even look to re-sign Favors to a two year deal.

The age of our team is crucial because I think the Mitchell experience will come in two waves. The first wave will be succeeding with the guys we have and the 2nd wave will be bringing in guys to continue that success. To me, this plan maximizes the current roster which has some guys already in their prime (with or without PG). In the future, we hope Mitchell can recruit the big fish because of the success provided by wave 1.

Probable Roster
PG Rubio, Exum
SG Mitchell, Simmons
SF Ingles, O'Neale
PF Favors/Crowder, Jerekbo
C Gobert, Bradley, Udoh
#35
This roster is built to throw a number of athletic, switchable defenders at the GS and Houston types. Our depth would be stronger than ever.

And if we could add PG to it at a hair under the max, just wow.

you need to get a life Instead of playing on ESPN trade machine. I'm guessing you are not from the state's but let me tell you a player like Georg e isn't coming to Utah. Really get a life, every day you have a trade idea. Go buy a ps4 and play NBA dynasty and you can have a new team in uni for every game play until your heart is content

@Ellis269

The trade doesn't add future money. Simmons has a $5.7 team option for 2019.

And how do we realistically meet with a PG or LeBron if we have no cap space? Like I have laid out, this trade doesn't show our hand but it does get us closer to having the money necessary to even have the meeting.

If we still have Burks on July 1, we don't get a formal meeting with PG. If we somehow do, shedding Burks' $11.5 will be so much harder once everybody knows what we are trying to go after. We lose leverage.

LeBron would never give Utah a chance. If you lived in USA you would understand this.

Lol, here we go:

- This is my first trade thread in months.
- I've got a great life thank you.
- If you have an issue, don't whine if I start conversations in a fan forum.
- And last thing, if you hate the PG talk, don't go to most of the threads in this forum because it's being brought up everywhere since our young star has been courting him on social media.
- Have a nice day.

Bosh was like a 23 point per game scorer in Toronto before he ever went to Miami. There was a solid chance he could’ve ended up in the HOF without Lebron.

Now, he may never make it, primarily because his health cut his career short. But regardless, Lebron is not the reason he is making it.

Wait, if Bosh makes the HOF it's because of his time in Toronto scoring 23ppg? I agree with a ton of what you post, but if you don't think Kevin Love or Chris Bosh were helped by winning titles alongside LeBron James, I just don't know what to tell you.

Al Jefferson, Zach Randolph, Rudy Gay and other guys have had monster years on irrelevant teams. None of those guys are even considered for the HOF. Give them a couple titles, and there is a conversation.
