*Breaking News* Kawhi Wants Out

But they're unlikely gonna offer the Spurs Kyrie, Hayward, Brown and picks.

The idea of the Celtics getting Kawhi is to win Championship. If they're giving up Kyrie, Hayward and Brown, who do they have left? Kawhi and Horford. That's not gonna get it done.

Why are we talking about an unrealistic offer when in reality it won't ever happen?

They don’t have to offer all that.

You seem to think the lakers would offer Ingram and a pick. So all the Celtics have to do to beat that is offer Hayward and a pick (Hayward > ingram) or offer kyrie and a pick (kyrie > than ingram). Hell, I think brown Is better than ingram too. Celtics don’t need to offer much to beat what the lakers can offer.
Plus the spurs don’t want to trade Leonard to a team in the west on top of everything else.

Boston has way better picks to offer as well.
In 2019 they have Philadelphia or Sacramento’s first rounder, Memphis pick, clippers pick and their own.

I think that's where you and I differ, I don't think Hayward is better than Ingram (long term), I don't think Brown is better than Ingram (long term) and Kyrie could just be a 1 year rental if he doesn't want to be in SA.

What about who has better picks to offer? What about the spurs not wanting to trade him to a team in the west?

I googled top ten possible trades for kahwi Leonard and the first article that came up had Boston giving San Antonio kyrie and the 27th pick in this draft getting the job done.
And that sends kahwi out east like the spurs want.

If I were the Spurs I wouldn't be happy with Kyrie & 27th pick... Kyrie can walk ala Kawhi in a couple of years, they're gonna be facing the same situation again and Kyrie isn't gonna get you the same assets back in return. So they'll be back to square 1 in a year's time.

To me that's not gonna get it done.

So what about kyrie, Hayward and a pick (Boston has plenty). Or kyrie, brown and a pick or two. Or Hayward, brown and picks.
Would that beat ingram and a pick? Plus the chance to get kahwi out of the conference which is what they want. I’m pretty sure it would.

Then Boston would still have Tatum, brown/kyrie/Hayward, horford, and kahwi and plenty of draft picks plus all their other guys like smart, rozier etc.

Lakers have ingram and that’s about it. And they play in the west. Boston has lots of picks, and lots of player assets.

No matter what you say Boston has more, better assets (whether players or picks) and they play in the east. Those are just plain, simple facts. What who would or wouldn’t trade is opinion.

I'm not saying BOS don't have plenty to offer, I'm just saying if I were Buford and the Spurs I would try my hardest to pry Tatum away - to me that's the main prize.

I'd be interested to see what they ended up getting.

I’d like to see Hayward moved. But if they traded for Kawhi and still had 3-4 of Hayward, Tatum, Brown, and Kawhi, I’d like to see them move Hayward to a lesser franchise for someone else.

And I agree they would try to pry Tatum away.
If they could then they would trade with the Celtics. And if they couldn’t pry Tatum away they would take the next best offer and trade with the Celtics. I just can’t see why the spurs would want to trade kahwi to a western conference team and get worse assets. That doesn’t seem smart to me.

Indiana traded Paul George for Victor Oladipo and Domantas Sabonis.

San Antonio doesn’t have any of the leverage here with teams because Kawhi isn’t going to sign an extension with any team besides the Lakers.

Kyrie had the Spurs as one of his top-4 destinations when he asked for a trade. Boston could easily offer Kyrie and Brown for Kawhi and I think that would get the deal done.

Hayward and the 2019 Kings pick would get it done too. The Lakers really don’t have a ton of great assets that the Spurs would want. You think they want Lonzo? So the offer is what? Kuzma and Ingram plus picks? Boston can easily beat that. Plus you keep him out of the West and keep a super team away from the Lakers.

The Lakers have enough to get him if you look at it on its own. The Spurs dont have leverage. Lonzo, Ingram, or Kuzma are all pretty nice pieces to put in a trade.

Hayward is not tradeable at this time. I don't think anyone is going to take on that contract with the recent injury until he proves he is healthy for another season.
