Sweden wasted a golden opportunity. Should have just controlled the ball in last minute, instead one of them decides to try weak shot from bad angle and gives a ball away. Then clumpsy challenge leading to free kick. Keeper in terrible position for the angle of the shot. Great shot by Kroos but if keeper would be where he needs to be it would be easy save. So many things went wrong for Sweden in that last minute. Heartbreaking. Now they need to beat Mexico by 2 goals. Possible but unlikely.

Keeper was protecting the near post. He even stepped with his right foot but when the ball came the other side he was wrong footed.

Did you see how close the ball was to the wall and then the keepers reach?

Magic.

yeah, your wall should be covering near post, he should have been at least couple feet closer to the far post from where he was... from that angle to hit top corner at near post is almost impossible, I do not think he needed to worry about protecting neart post TBH. The only way Kroos was aiming was far post and again keeper was in bad position anyway you would look at it. Amazingly accurate shot though...
And Sweden got robbed from a penalty in the first half, amazing how VAR kicks in for trivial handling violations but completely ignored blatant foul by Boetang there..

Boetang... Boetang... Boetang... he's done. He shouldn't be there. That play when Germany nearly conceded the penalty, Boetang should have dropped back but instead he was forward and the full back had to make an errant pass. He's just getting lazy.

He'a also tried and tried to insert himself in the midfield and even had a shot at goal. Why? You're leaving the back wide open.

Germany played much better after he was sent off. He should be done for the remainder of the tournament as far as I'm concern.
 
Yeah, Germany's back line isn't looking too impressive,could have easily been down 3-0 at half. Going to have to figure some things out. A save from Neuer kept them in at the end of the half. I had to watch the goal from Kroos a couple times, that was pretty, made amends for a lazy giveaway setting up Sweden's goal. It looked like it was Reus idea to go for the shot and it worked beautifully.
 
What a disaster for Poland. Looked so good in qualifiers and friendlies and completely disappeared on big stage.
 
Japan has been impressive, Senegal too. They are becoming my favourites. Helps that Yuto Nagatomo plays for Galatasaray. Great dude.
