.... so you take my posts in jest.

I am not a Jazz fan, yet. Trying badly though. I am a multi-generational Kentucky basketball fan that eats, sleeps, breathes, and bleeds my team (10,000+ posts at that board, btw). I've resisted the NBA my entire life for no other reason than "how much time can I spend away from my wife and 5 kids?".

About 5 years ago I 'moved' to Utah (St. George) and met the greatest group of guys ... and they are CLOSE to sharing my BB passion. :)

I WANT (sincerely) to make the Jazz my team (and I think I'd make a great fan) and that's why I'm diving in, head first, and without regard to 'personal safety.' I respect I have no knowledge, no clue ... can't even begin to get you guys and your passion for YOUR team.

Just wanted to let you know that I "want in" and I believe myself to be a worthy adversary for all opponent fan bases.

I HATE the lakers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok your in just for this.

But really don't take a lot of what is said hear to heart. There are a lot of different fans on this board that are true Jazz fans that have completely different ideas on how things should go with our team. Thats what makes discussion boards so much fun. As a true Basketball fan I welcome your comments and hope see more of your posts. I might not agree with all of them. But I still like reading them.

Count on most of us to be nice to ya for about 1 week. But never take it personally if someone calls you a moran after a post. I think most of us have been called a name or two by now.

You do realize your coach thinks it's more important to get guys picked high in the NBA draft than winning championships, right?
 
I must say it's painful sometimes being a Jazz fan. We are consistently good, but never great.
It's got to be easier than rooting for teams like the Warriors, Wizards, and Knicks though.

Welcome aboard, and yes the Lakers are sin.
 
Thanks gents, I assure thick skin comes with the territory coming from catspause (UK). Never fewer than 2,000 fire-breathers on that site ... at 3 a.m. even. Not worried about "taking it" as I know how to dish it as well. Just wanted to say I know my UK ball, but I'm a newbie here and will try to conduct myself as such. Will always be respectful (unless undeserved) :)

Looking for great things from the Jazz, new friends here, and fun back-and-forth.

Interesting first post. I'm glad that you hate the lakers. That's a good sign.

I feel bad that you had to move into the state of Utahr but coming from Kentucky, I guess it can be considered a lateral move. Well, sort of. Ok, not really. Better you than me, I always say.

As far as being a fan of the Jazz. If you can tolerate complete and abject disappointment, year after year, then you should have no problem as a Jazz fan. As much as you and I both hate the lakers, I know one thing...the lakers own us in every way possible. So, get used to that. Also get used to the fact that most Jazz fans here on this board are incredibly pathetic. Though, there are a few that are borderline idiot savants, without the savant part.

While there are some true basketball nerds here on the board and you can learn a few things about the ins and outs of the NBA, for the most this board consists of emotional posters calling each other names day in and day out.

Also, are you a fan of diversity?
 
When I moved to the Bay Area I tried to become a Giants or a A's fan. It didn't happen. I just didn't have passion for either of the teams and I think becoming a fan of a team starts at a much younger age, at least in my experience. All props to you if you do become a Jazz fan, but don't feel bad if you don't or can't.

With all due respect, I know EVERYTHING about my team, and yes, I know this. I'm okay with the 'statement' and support my coach, players, recruits etc. etc ..

Plan to learn about the Jazz too. Did you know that the Jazz had one of the GREATEST, if not THE greatest PG's, ever?!?!??! John Stockton ;)

I can hang. Carry on. :)

I watched Stockton play from the first part of his carrier until his last game. (yes that makes me old BTW) Wow do I miss watching him. I actually shed a tear the day he retired.
 
Where's the return line? I want the last 6 mins(I'm a slow reader) of my life back.

I hear ya', I've had MANY moments like that during my 30+ years watching every second of everything UK ... my advice, change back your avatar. Seriously, you'll feel better.

NO ONE likes, or wants to be, a bandwagonner. Come on back man! (In my best, Bud Light, "I LOVE YOU MAN!!!, voice) Just do it, you'll feel much better. :)
