I used to be pretty pro isolationist, but I just don't think it makes any sense given the US role in global stability since WW2. Sure, I'd prefer not to engage in any more ill advised land wars in Asia (and vote accordingly) but the idea that the US is going to step away from hegemony just isn't realistic.
Isolationism is a juvenile ideal. Most of us grew up thinking war is bad and stupid, and probably had isolationist tendencies at minimum.
