2018 Annual JazzFanz LEGENDARY Players NBA Draft

Thank you to everyone who was involved in the current players draft, and congratulations to our winner, Ron Mexico.

Anyways, you know the deal. Construct the best 10 player team possible. The goal is for your team to beat any and all of the other teams being drafted.

Once a team/user/owner is on the clock (it's their turn), they have up to 12 hours to make their pick. The quicker the better but a 12 hour maximum time period will be allotted.

Each pick must include the player's name, their "resume", and why they are the best ****ing pick possible at that place in the draft for your team — a kick *** pic or two, maybe even a highlight video, helps as well usually. Some details may be left out so as not to give away a team's strategy or indirectly allude to who that team/user/owner may be considering with their next pick(s), but you get the point.

Trading can occur during the draft and once it's done. Once the draft is complete, there will be a short amount of time for post-draft trades before the playoff tournament ensues. The winner of each match in the tournament will be determined by the voting of JazzFanz.

It will take more than 1/3 of the participants which in this case would be 6 votes to veto a trade. I don't think we will have a problem with any trades but there is a system in place just in case.

I'm hoping for a total of 16 teams, please only serious people who will not take the whole 12 hours and will actually make their pick within 3-5 hours or so. Preseason is coming up soon, so we need to be on the ball with it.

This is a legendary players draft, only NBA players who are no longer playing as of the start of the tournament can be selected. Players who played in 2017-2018 but have not yet announced their retirement are not eligible, even if they don't have a contract. Players who are playing in foreign leagues and do not have a reasonable expectation of getting a deal with an NBA team are eligible.

Worth of a player is determined by two things: their best season, and the weight of their career. So someone who was rock solid for 20 years but never flashy could be worth about the same as someone who was great for a few years but faded out quick.

In the event of a tie, the team with the most votes from the other participants will win the tie-breaker. If it is still tied after that we will go into sudden death and the first team to receive a write-in vote will win and move on.

All participants must vote in every matchup.

The playoff seeding will be determined randomly and the playoff system will work extremely well with 16 teams. I hope to have the draft ready to go by Tuesday or Wednesday, 9/4 or 9/5. I will be as transparent as possible with both the draft seeding and the playoff seeding. I will be using http://www.draftordergenerator.com/ to determine draft seeding. I am open currently to suggestions for how to determine game seeding - should I go with reverse draft order, or randomly select matchups and brackets?

If anyone has any questions, please ask.

<EDIT TO ADD RULE>: If someone misses their pick, it moves on to the next person. When the pick-misser returns, they can choose from any currently available players. The person who was then on the clock has one hour to, if they choose, take that player themselves.

Good gawd, is there no end to these draft competitions?

Next one should be players who are deceased. No one alive is allowed to be on a team.
Or how about teams picked by posters' alt accounts? Maybe OneLove could fill up all 16 slots (jk, OL).

How about Legends of Jazzfanz? Reach out and bring back banned posters and those who have stopped posting. Just as other sports teams have reached out to their legends, Jazzfanz needs to do the same. C'mon, Jason and colton, bring back our honored members who live on in our hearts and memories.

He'd have to choose which alts got to play...

How about involving the female posters on Jazzfanz? The "All Hunk" team.
True story...I was once involved in a fantasy NBA competition at work. I studied my *** off to construct a balanced team and put the best lineup out there every week. By mid-season, two women were leading...by a sizeable margin. I admit I was a bit sexist, but I asked if they followed teams closely and how they went about picking their teams.

Their response: "we picked the players with the cutest butts." That was the LAST time I played in any fantasy league.

Haha... Um... I think that speaks more about how bad the guys at your work is than how good the women were... LOL!!!!
