What's new

If Irving and Kanter are gone & we're on the clock...

Do we pick DWill_2 at #3 even if we don't see him work out?

He hasn't scheduled one with us before the draft - has he?

No he's not coming here (at least he's not planning on it). I'll answer your question with a question: would you pass on Irving if he fell?

Well, favors is a four, and Hayward can go either 2 or 3. If we draft a 2, move hay to the 3, if we draft a 3, move hay to the 2.

honestly i think knight is a much better fit to jazz than williams

I think there's a question mark as whether DWill_2 can play SF.

That's why I would like to see him first.

If you need a workout to tell you this, then you've failed as a GM/scout. Not saying that if you're a GM you can't have questions about someone, but I don't think you would get a definitive answer by just one workout.

I'm not so sure KOC doesn't trade the pick if Williams falls. Williams could generate a few more "heist" type deals. On lesser fronts, Washington might trade the 6 and 18 for Williams. If KOC likes who he can get at the 6 and has a back of the draft guy, that might be enticing. Alternately, Williams might pry loose a star type player from another team in a bigger deal. But I wouldn't be upset to take Williams.
NOW we're thinking 'out of the box' a bit!! I have reservations 'bout Williams being such an individual-style player and buying into the Jazz team system anyway, so would not be unhappy if we traded down in the event Williams were to become available. Getting a mature (not OLD) up-and-coming star has to be part of KoC's agenda, as we are ALREADY loaded with youth; much more than the Jazz are accustomed to...

Well what are workouts for anyway?

If I was KOC I'd wanna make sure that he has the handle, speed and agility to play SF.

Also I'd wanna see how he shoots, mechanics of his shots, may be get Horny in and take a quick look.

Obviously I'm not a GM/scout...

But - that is the one glaring question mark on him, and it wouldn't hurt to see him going through some drills first hand.

I'm seeing alot of people wanting to trade our 3rd pick for more picks in this draft, which i find odd since all we do is talk about how week this draft is. Kanter, Dwill2 or Irving are going to fall into our lap, lets be happy knowing that.

You had two years to see these things, and I'm sure you saw them in person. And by you I mean KOC/scouts.

It's not that odd. The "expert" consensus is this draft is loaded with rotation types, but really weak at the top. If KOC sees the 5-6 guys as being as good as the 2-4 guys, then getting an extra pick makes sense so long as he has a guy in the late draft that he actually wants.

I want one of either Kanter, Valanciunas, or Biyombo. Kanter will probably be there at 3 or the Jazz can trade down and grab one of the others.
