The Season of AB

I really don't know how some of you guys can have such good expectations. First of all, Burks' basketball IQ has always been low — I think we can all agree on that. He has shown some improvement in that regard, but will it be enough? Although his athleticism has faded a little, he re-learned how to finish inside. Good! Otherwise, he remains utterly inconsistent offensively — his shooting from ANY distance other than from inside has been either subpar or simply bad. Nowadays, he seem to how to get his own shot off, but that won't matter if he can't hit them. I think he'll be part of the rotation in general, but can also get some DNP-CD or even find himself buried at the end of the bench if some younger wing emerges.

I'm still shocked Cy was the one who started this thread. The fact that he is on board makes me think we've turned a corner with AB.

If AB is providing instant offense off the bench then this team probably won't be in a position to trade him. Dude's like AB are kind of exactly what we need around here. I know we've all given up on him multiple times at this point, and you never think about him in our future plans, but he was really good in the playoffs and the preseason. If he's playing well then we might be looking at an extension, not a trade.

And if he is playing well, christ. We will be amazing. Because I haven't really thought about AB at all when projecting this team. If suddenly we have a Will Barton type offensive player coming off the bench? Yeehaw.

If AB is Lou Williams, then it’s game over for the rest of the league. Whether that happens I do not know.

Lou is too high to aim on offense... he's like a top 20 offensive player. He is also like a bottom 20 defender and AB should be much better than that.

Not similar players at all, but a Patty Mills like pop off the bench would be great. If he is a guy that can break out 1 out of every 4/5 games I think it gives us a ton of juice. Between him, Dante, and Jae our bench has a few guys that can have a good game that propels the team to victory. I see Royce as the guy that gives consistent impact but doesn't have the scoring outbursts the others could have.

Also, I think Niang could also be one of those guys that goes 3/4 from 3 some nights and gives you that needed burst. I think he gets momentum these first few games with Thabo on suspension and that Thabo ends up becoming injury/trade insurance.

Our bench should be top notch.

As much as I would love to see Burks FINALLY put it all together, I'm gonna have to see it first to believe it. I've gotten my hopes up too many times and it seems like we've had this conversation more than once. He has the potential and he's going to be given every opportunity to be the scorer off the bench so we'll see.

Burks may be our best iso scorer aside from Donovan. That might matter, especially in the playoffs. He's got good size and athleticism to be a two-way player. If he defends well, he has to be a steady part of the rotation.

actually, I've always been on-board with that name. Which is proof that it's pretty good since I certainly don't agree with you very often. For obvi reasons.

hahaha. wouldn’t be a naos post without a lil putdown packed in with that compliment.

forever funny that someone asked Favors if he liked it on Facebook and he was like “lol I’ll get back to you on that.”
