Derrick Favors Extravaganza!

The only thing that concerns me about Favors is attitude. He seemed much too passive to me last year. For him to become anything like Howard, Amare, etc., he has to develop the type of "I must win" attitude that Deron had.

My concern as well. His interviews usually leave me mystified that he can play at all, or how much better he might be than he is. Because he just doesn't seem to care very much. But what do I know?

but does he have the skills sets as being able to match Howard or Amare? im not sure

Agree - and that was the concern with him coming out of Ga Tech. He has great character so I like to think he's just a 20-year old kid who channels his emotion differently (something that worked fine with guys like Stockton and Duncan), but I am anxious to see him in a situation where someone gets up in his face and how he responds.

Well, this is my evaluation on Favors.
Offense- Very good footwork, improving post game, finishes with authority, can pass pretty well, sometimes plays out of control, has good touch on his jumper, not a very good FT shooter though

Defense- Plays good pick and roll D and shows hard on picks, he plays great one on one D and also plays pretty good help D. He does tend to foul a lot but a lot of his fouls were "rookie calls" and he will get more respect as time goes on.

Other notes- With more and more PT, he got more comfortable and eventually started to show emotion, desire and fire. Once he did that, he was much more of a factor. He also rebounds very well and is the only big man on the Jazz that Boxes Out! Of course, I may be giving him too much credit b/c I am his #1 fan. Either way, you got to be excited for the kid

What he needs most of all in my opinion is experience/playing time. If he doesn't consistently get 30-35 mins/game next season (if there is one :-( ), I will be ticked.

I agree...but, with his demeanor, I think Corbin should make him earn it. Corbin needs to tell Favors, you go out and beat up Millsap everyday and practice and I'll play you and start you. Until you do that, you are riding the pine. Light a fire in Favors' belly.

i dont disagree, but comparing to howard is not very realistic, howard has too dominant body, favors doesnt have that much powerful. Favors cann be allstar if he works hard and gains experience in time, but he cant be a superstar player at Howards level

Some doesn't remember the way Howard looked his rookie year.

I don't know if Favors can become a superstar, but I don't really think Howard is either. Howard is going to need a 2nd star or an extremely strong array of role players(like Detroit Pistons/San Antonio Spurs strong) to ever win a championship.

Isn't this the case with every player? Even Kobe needed a 2nd star. Howard is absolutely a superstar. Look at the guys on his team and name me one player in the NBA not named Lebron who could lead that team to 55+ wins.
