What's new

The reason we should go big with #3

We've already tried building around a PG. In almost all cases, it doesn't work. If we take Knight at #3, we would be trying it all over again. And no way Knight will be as good as Dwill.

What we should do is draft Kanter and Jimmer at 12, then next year do whatever we can to get a star wing in the draft (Barnes). With Hayward and someone like Barnes holding down the 2 and 3, a "lesser" pg like Jimmer will be just fine to start for us, IMO.

Imagine this lineup:

Harris/Jimmer
Hayward/free agent
Barnes/Milsap
Jefferson/Kanter/Milsap
Favors/Okur/Kanter

Then we use Harris and Jefferson as trade bait to fill out the roster.

I think this team is a solid offensive squad. Defense would be the concern.

i'm not sure planning to put millsap at the 3 is a good idea. sure, he can fill in if we're pressed into that situation. but he's too big and slow to PLAN on him at that spot. we can do better.

This.

Before these finals I would have agreed with you. But after watching Dallas frustrate Miami defensively, I'm starting to think that having an entire team dedicated to a defensive system is more important than good individual defenders. I say we get one good defensive big (Favors) and one good defensive wing (Chris Singleton?) and put a scheme into place that funnels everything to your defensive big.

Teams that do this with success: Chicago, Boston, Dallas.

That's why I was suggesting trading Al once we know Kanter will be good. Then we would have Milsap as our sixth man getting most of his minutes at the 4.

I just realise that we might only have less than a week to savour the fact that we could have had the most AWESOME front court in the NBA 3-4 years from now

**Featuring Favors & Kanter**

The only thing saving us from picking Knight is probably going to be how well KOC thinks Jimmer would be at the PG position...

Let's pray together shall we?

Would the Jazz really wait to the very last moment to work out Knight if he was high on their list? We have nothing to worry about.

Dear god,
please smack the **** out of all these numbskulls. They know not what they do, but they still need to get Molly wooped

I dunno what that means really~

Minny worked out DWill_2 & Kanter at the last minute too, so did Cavs...

I would have thought that meant that they're more likely to pick them?

for another couple of years or so. Because when their rookie contracts are up and when its time to cough up the big bucks, with big market franchises as your competitors, good luck. Jazz are'nt the Heat or Mavericks. They'll have 4 or 5 young guys on the team and they will be lucky to sign 3 of them at best. Of course if a couple of these picks(including next year's deep draft) turn out to be busts then its a different story altogether.

I don't see a problem with that. Look at OKC, they had 5 great young players in Durant, Westbrook, Green, Harden & Serge.

The more the merrier - just pick the 2-3 you really like, trade the rest for veteran help, other assets, draft picks, etc.

When is Kanters second workout?

I think Kanter is going to be awesome. I think GMs are not talking about him because they don't want the hype that Jimmer is getting and causing him to be drafted higher.

I agree with you Wolverine. I also think that he can work on whatever defensive issues he's got. Personally, I think he and his handlers have not gone out of their way to stress whatever defense he does have perhaps because he wants to end up in Washington. Why he would want to go to Washington is beyond me.

The Jazz need to go BPA. We have a very good looking young big man and wing player (Favors and Hayward). They have a solid pg (Harris), a solid backup big guy (Millsap) and that is it. That is four out of eight. We need everything. We need the BPA.

I agree with going big with the #3 pick. With the #12, I like Jimmer, Singleton, Brooks, and Burks. I think we have some good options at 12. I sure hope there is a season next year.

Jimmer wont be available at 12. I've said this before on a few other site and I'll say it again here... The only way we're going to get Jimmer is if the Jazz organizations put an effort into getting him.
