The transubstantiation of Derrick Favors

Ok, since we just played Mike and the other brother, that dude would fit like George Hill. Costly but fit. And I'm still in shock that Hill fell off like he did. Damn fine player here, would vote All Star.

BTW, BTW, BTW, Hill is shooting 48% from deep. He's had one unexceptional 3% year out of his last 4, still at a passable 35%. All others are over 40%. I would trade Ricky for him straight across.

I'm aware. I've been the most vocal supporter of what Favors brings, even when it doesn't stuff the box and he has been awful ugly at times this season. His presence impacts without being noticed and he's hindered offensively by playing out of position. QS has built this offense around the best rim runner in the game. Favors can fill that role probably as good as anyone not named Gobert, who is above and beyond with his soft handed ability to get shots up above the rim that make me say WTF every game. It's probably the power in those chiseled arms...

Ricky, eh. Utah still needs a quick first step facilitator and Ricky fills that role. Even Donovan defers to him except during crunch time. His flat 3 point shot still makes me cringe but so does AB's that doesn't seem to miss. Another side note, was anyone else shocked that his box was 3 of 20 or something? Not what i saw.

Back to Ricky, he just can't score enough to threaten with his speed in PnR. Way to many turnovers, call them Ricky Lobovers. Loboverfest at Olive Garden. Joe does the same damn thing but the speed retarded version. I'm guessing Joe's is reasonably efficient though even if ugly. Regardless, Ricky's role needs to be filled or the offense has to change. PnR bailing bucket is what it is.

I was agreeing with you. Lots of teams start with two bigs and transition to stretchy lineups and it works. If Favs can shoot 35-40% from the corner it works well. Ricky is the issue. He shoots 40% at the rim and turns it over a lot. Joe has turned it over more this year, but shoots 68% at the rim. you also can't go under the pick with Joe handles.

Ricky is a fantastic human... great locker room presence... but he's murdering the offense and we have better options imo.

I argued for it... the issue is durability and the locker room issues. Sounds like he hurt our culture a bit, but who knows. He has a shoulder injury right now, but I think he'd be a fantastic fit basketball wise. He wasn't bad last year... just disinterested in Sacramento. Everyone outside of Lebron struggled to fit in with Cleveland, but he was still solid/okayish.

I hate to jump to conclusions this early but Ricky simply has not been fun to watch. Again. Add in his history of being good ricky/bad Ricky and I'm good with sending him back to jail like Robb Wells. My issue is what will replace his role offensively and dude is a little menace on defense too. Shelvin Mack has shown he could do what Ricky does here.

Also, his search dribble is pretend search dribble. Why the hell do defenses keep bailing him out by slacking off the upper left wing? Nonsense play, please get rid of it QS.
