Bismack Biyombo - Full Scouting Report

I'd rather have Knight and Biyombo than Kanter and Jimmer. Wow, that could be quite the polarizing statement ..

Kanter and Jimmer = the least defensive/athletic combination you could get in the Jazz's range.

Knight and Biyombo = the most defensive/athletic combination you could get in the Jazz's range.

For me, getting Bismak is priority one in this draft. I'd like to see the Jazz draft Kanter in the three spot and then trade with someone in the 5 to 9 range to pick up Biyombo and an asset. If they do this I'm even on board if they take Jimmer at 12. In fact, I'll enjoy watching opposing guards run past Ferdetter only to come face to palm with Smack.

Biyombo averaged similar offensive #'s but also over a full block more than Ibaka in the same amount of minutes. We are talking about a guy that was 3rd in blocks in the NBA last year.

And he did it while a year younger than Ibaka, which is significant. Biyombo will be a very good defensive big in NBA.

What kind of player do you expect him to be? I've heard some compare him to Ben Wallace or Ibaka. To me, if he could have just a Joel Anthony like impact that would be very optimistic considering how short and raw he is....

He is definitely more Wallace than Ibaka. Ibaka has a decent midrange jumper. I doubt Bismack will ever develop much offense.

Exactly.

Which is worrisome to me...

Anthony couldn't even play the last few games against the mavs because he was such a liability offensively. While everyone is creaming their pants with the idea of a 6'9" center (which is concerning to me), everyone is forgetting the liability he'll bring offensively. Remember how frustrating our offense became with guys like AK and Brewer being left alone? Anyone remember Ostertag?

He may block/alter 3 maybe 5 shots a game.

But is that worth the 40-50+ possessions per game that he'll be a liability offensively? Do we have the shooters to make up for him? What about the post players? Realistically, how long must we wait to get some real production out of this kid? He's considered a project. Are jazz fans really patient enough to probably miss out on the playoffs again next year in order to develop their young talent?

And honestly, how young are we going to go? Perhaps... If anything... The Jazz might want to consider getting older just a little bit. Having a team of rookies and 2nd year players probably isn't the best recipe for success...

Just saying.

Update:
Dream Draft would be......

Trade the 3rd pick and 12th pick and Raja Bell for 2nd pick and 20th pick and Webster
2nd - Draft Derrick Williams
Trade Millsap for 6th or 5th pick. Draft Biyombo 6th
20th - Draft Reggie Jackson.

Harris - Reggie Jackson(20th) - Watson
Hayward - Miles
Williams(2nd) - Webster - Evans
Favors - Biyombo(6th)
Jefferson - Biyombo(6th) - Okur - Fesenko
