Is he any more a liability on offense than Collins?
The thing you don't admit is that you can't have a team full of just offensive players. You need balance.
The other thing is that Bismack looks like he can finish around the rim. I see him getting rebounds, and finishing hard.
How much of a liability is that? You act like he can do nothing because he can't shoot jumpers or post up right now.
No, I've admitted this many times before.
I think most who have followed the Jazz over the past 5-10 years know that a championship team needs balance.
Are we becoming too young?
What can we really expect from Bismack? Folks comparing him to Ben Wallace and then busting out all those DPOY awards are their own worst enemies. For Bismack to become a DPOY type player, he'll need to improve A LOT. Put on weight, learn the game, learn how to stay out of foul trouble, etc. Will he? that's a huge risk. And a long term project. Everyone thinks that he can, from day 1, be Ben Wallace. However, in this little world called, REALITY, he probably won't even begin to contribute until his 3rd year. He's a long term project, with no offensive game, who will struggle to not foul out in 3 minutes for his first few NBA seasons.
This is something the pro-Biyombo crowd refuses to acknowledge. They want to compare him to Ben Wallace, an all time great defender with defensive and rebound instincts that Biyombo can only dream of. This is comparable to the pro-Kanter crowd comparing Enes to Tim Duncan or Dirk. In reality, Biyombo should strive to be like Joel Anthony or Arthur (from the Grizz).
I'd maybe take it at 12. But not any earlier.
If the Jazz draft him, how do they intend to develop him with Al, Favors, Millsap, Evans, whatever we take at #3, and perhaps Memo coming back?
See folks, for NBA 2k, it's easy. Just draft and sign a bunch of players and it all works out.
But in reality, you have to take into consideration development, players' IQ, their height/weight/reach/athleticism, your roster, ages, salaries, etc.
Biyombo is the flavor of the weekend. Yet, he has some serious question marks.
I wonder who'll be the next one tomorrow? Maybe Jonas?
